Iggy's NCAA football rankings through Sept. 25

Recommended Posts

OK, here's the new rankings here. There were some shakeups, but I think the new rankings are pretty accurate, with the only thing that might be off being California, since they haven't played in forever.

(I haven't got to bed yet, so I'm not gonna format it all pretty yet; I might fix it up tomorrow. For now, previous rank is in parenthesis.)

1. USC 4-0 (1)

2. Oklahoma 3-0 (3)

3. Miami 3-0 (2)

4. Texas 3-0 (5)

5. Tennessee 3-0 (6)

6. Auburn 4-0 (9)

7. Arizona State 4-0 (16)

8. Purdue 3-0 (4)

9. LSU 3-1 (10)

10. Florida State 2-1 (7)

11. California 2-0 (11)

12. Georgia 3-0 (13)

13. Ohio State 3-0 (15)

14. Louisville 3-0 (NR)

15. Utah 4-0 (12)

16. Boise State 4-0 (8)

17. Virginia 4-0 (14)

18. Stanford 2-1 (19)

19. West Virginia 4-0 (17)

20. Fresno State 3-0 (18)

21. Florida 2-1 (21)

22. Wisconsin 4-0 (24)

23. Michigan 3-1 (25)

24. Arkansas 3-1 (NR)

25. NC State 2-1 (NR)

Stanford has played much better football than Michigan so I have no trouble with that one.

I'd accept Troy over Michigan they way they have been playing though.

Yeah, actually Stanford's been above Michigan for the last two weeks. As for Fresno, they beat a couple really overrated teams, and then nearly lost to a I-AA school. I haven't seen anything too impressive out of them yet.

Wisconsin's at least got the dominating defense going for them. Minnesota's just a mediocre team who's looked unimpressive in beating shitty teams. There's really not much to differentiate Minnesota from someone like Navy at this point of the season.

If they do finally beat a decent team, then we can forget about them letting Illinois State hang around into the second half and they can break into the Top 25. Shit, even a dominant win against Penn State would probably get the job done.

(If you really want to know, I'd say they're probably ranked about 29 right now, behind Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, and Southern Miss)

Cause of Stanford's near-win against SC? As I learned last year when Wazzu lost to Stanford in b-ball, it's still a loss.

Don't keep overrating BYU beating Notre Dame as a reason for Stanford being where you have them..........................

TSU who lost to NMSU?

Michigan would kill Troy and handle Stanford pretty easily

If they played in Alabama, no, they probably wouldn't.

Dominating defense against who?

Besides Illinois St. which was a no show. The Gophers have played pretty much the same level of opponents. Arizona's a major conference team, but they aren't good. Look at the scores. The Gophers have all but dominated teams when it really mattered. The D's tendency to let up with a big league is frustrating, but the offense can score against anyone. Wisconsin on the other hand has struggled against mediocre teams. The D's been good, but the O's been just has bad. Heck, this week it was only 16-7 vs Penn St. who has to use their third string qb. Davis's injury hurts, but still this is the 3rd game they've scored less than 20 points.

This week the Gophers face Penn St. A game i'll be attending. If the Gophers fail to score less than 35 points. I'll stop asking you every week about the Gophers not being ranked. If they do, i'll stop anyway.
