If he wasn't happy about leaving, then he wouldn't be leaving. If it was just a case of NBC wanting him out they wouldn't be waiting 5 years.

Unless Leno has been consistently losing ratings and Late Night is getting better ratings, I can't see NBC kicking out Leno.

I started watching Leno & Conan about 4 years ago, and I never watched anything else in the way of late night TV. Then, this past summer during the olympics, NBC had all of the time locked up, so I watched Letterman and Kilborn. I was very impressed with Letterman. I thought he was just great. I had always taken Leno's side on the whole Carson replacement thing, but now I can see why Letterman was a strong candidate.

Also, does anyone know what they are doing with Kilborn's timeslot? Is anyone taking over the show? Or have they already?

It's not about ratings right now so much as it is about ratings in the future should Conan jump ship to another network.

Leno still is number one in the late night ratings but basically this all boils down to the fact that NBC being terrified that Conan will leave them and take a huge ass chunk out of the ratings of TTS if he goes to another network and run his show at the same time as Leno....

Looking at the current NBC lightnight roster...

This doesn't mean Carson Daly will take over Late Night...does it.
