TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Just to try to bring some positive energy back around here (beyond just saying that TNA sucks), here are the matches I think we can pencil in considering the recent TV. Discuss what you guys think... Jarrett/Hardy in a ladder match or something Raven/Monty Brown in a #1 Contender's Match AJ/Petey Williams for the X Title AMW/XXX in some sort of gimmick match for control of the Tag Belts Dusty/Funk (or Zybysco) and obviously the Outsiders will be involved in some form or fashion. I thought we'd see Abyss/Shelley, but since they've fazed out Goldylocks and moved Abyss away from that, I don't know anymore. I did notice that during the 3LK match last week on Impact, Tenay said that next week they'd start to name some of the matches for the show, which is good. I also think they'll have to unveil the location soon or they'll be screwed on the ticket sales. The more I think about it, I think if they can't get a building in Vegas or Nashville, they'll just reconfigure the the studio at Universal and do it from there. Anyway, what do you guys think of those match-ups, or do you think they'll go in another direction with any of them? If you don't like the pairs, please don't go into a rant about how JJ can't book or whatever. Just suggest the matches you would like to see instead.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I think if they made Jarrett vs. Hardy a ladder match, it would benefit Hardy more than Jarrett. Of course, though, Jarrett will ruin it by being sluggish. I've been wanting Monty Brown to work with someone the caliber of Raven for a while. Though Raven's mostly a brawler, and not in his prime, his knowledge of how to put together a match could help Monty look better. Here's hoping Brown actually gets to do something other than squash matches, as they don't develop him much if any at all. AJ and Petey Williams would be good. I have about 3 or 4 other guys I'd prefer to see going for the X belt, but I can't complain. I would much rather see the Naturals vs XXX in the tag title match, but TNA has a hard on for AMW, so we're stuck with them. Hopefuly they'll give us a 2/3 falls match, as that would be unique for a tag team match. I don't want to see an old timer's match, but knowing TNA we'll get one. I myself would love to see Siaki, D'Lo, Kid Kash, and some others on the PPV. I would prefer less matches, though, as that would mean TNA really is WCW 2004. Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Of course, though, Jarrett will ruin it by being sluggish. I'm all for hating Jarrett, but saying he will ruin a match with Jeff Hardy is a bit overboard. If this match even gets *, it will only be because of JJ. Hardy is completely useless at this point. (not that he was ever great) He has no business in the main event, even less than Jarrett.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I don't know, Hardy has a history of good ladder matches. This could, of course, be because of his opponents, but I'm willing to give him a bit of credit when a ladder is involved. Jarrett, on the other hand, always botches gimmick matches. I'm not saying it's going to be great, but I want to give Hardy just a bit of credit if it would be a ladder match.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Hardy hasn't had a stand out match in singles competition in FOREVER. I'll be amazed if mediocre Double J can carry him to anything good. If it's a ladder match, Hardy will probably botch 20 spots and injure Jarrett in the process (small chorus of cheers).
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted September 28, 2004 The thing Hardy brings to his matches, that I just can't comprehend, is heat. The fans LOVE this guy, for the most part. Or at least they did. And a ladder match is viewed as his speciality match, so if they market it right, it COULD gain a decent buy rate, I think. The match most likely will suck, for the reasons stated above, unless Hardy decides to try to kill himslef for our enjoyment, which I doubt. So, the match will suck, but If done right, could garner some attention for TNA.
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted September 28, 2004 No, Hardy's appeal is finished. It has been proven over and over. Possible spoiler here: This match will suck. It won't be Jarrett's fault.

You really should've used the spoiler tags for that one. Thanks alot, a-hole. You've ruined the rest of the baseball seaon for me.

I don't wanna see a ladder match or cage match, cuz they're overused gimmicks. The 2/3 falls thing could be built as the decisive match and will allow for the match to run at least 20 mins, which is what this PPV needs.

U-G-H. I'm really trying here guys.....I fucking swear. Give me a break here though. This card looks like shit and it's a joke that TNA even wants to offer this as their first PPV. Here's a question for you guys. Would you pay $29.99 for this? I sure as hell wouldn't and I would be insulted if they expected me to. Let's take a look at the matches and I'll explain my thoughts on them.... Hardy/Jarrett - I really could careless about his match happening at all rather than being a ladder match. Honestly, IMO neither of these guys really truly bring anything of value to the table. Hardy honestly is one of the worst workers in the entire company right now and Jarrett plain and simple just isn't good enough to carry him. Raven/Monty - WTF? Is there honestly anyone that wants to see this match? If you do want to see this match......why? Monty is just terrible and Raven hasn't shown ANYTHING of value in quite some time. This is such a waste to me it's not even funny. AJ/Petey - Finally, something that I wouldn't mind seeing. This match should be good if given a proper alloted amount of time. Also, please GOD don't give AJ the X-Division title back. They need to wake up and realize that they need AJ in the NWA title picture. Still this match doesn't justify the price of the PPV. AMW/XXX - I have been a fan of some of their contests, but the stipulation(depending on weather or not it's a stupid ass one) will make or break this one I'm afraid. I can smell them going for Cage match #2 between them though with maybe XXX winning this time around. Dusty/Funk (Zybyszo) - I think most will agree that there is no reason for any of the three to be here. Outsider will be there huh? Mark my words......WASTE OF MONEY! TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I think DK insulted me a bit in his first post. Bastard. This match will suck. It won't be Jarrett's fault. Nope, it will be your's for keeping Hardy up all night watching gay porn. (Does anyone else think the description of the folder needs to change? "Home of the X Division.... and some of the most unique offense on TV today"? How about "Home of the X Division... and some of the most uniquely offensive TV today.") If this is a little inside joke with each other... then it's really stupid. Just because Hardy is built like a woman and uses glow stick crap on his body doesn't make him gay. zyn081 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 To get back on topic: (1) Jeff Jarrett vs Raven for the NWA World Heavyweight Title (2) AMW vs XXX vs Naturals for the NWA World Tag Team Titles in a Triple Threat Elimination Match (think Benoit/Angle-Edge/Rey-Eddie/Chavo at Survivour Series 2002) (3) Petey Williams vs Jerry Lynn/Kid Kash for the X Divison Title (They could build up Lynn's experience, with Petey having no chance in hell or Kid Kash's arrogance) (4) Abyss vs AJ Styles vs Monty Brown vs Jeff Hardy vs Ron Killings vs Lynn/Kash in a Six Pack Challange for the Number One Conterdership (When Abyss wins hed face Raven) (5) The Elite Guard vs The Wolfpac (If Wolfpac lose, Kevin Nash cant go for the NWA World Title, but then the bombshell would be that Scott Hall wants it) (6) Swinger vs Kenney in a Las Vegas or wherever they are Grudge Match (and after Kenney thumps Swinger, he says SIMON HAS FINALLY SOLVE HIS PROBLEM, and reassumes the Diamond persona) (7) Trinity (as a face) vs Traci for the NEW Womans Title Then one of: (8) 3 Live Kru vs Red/Sabin vs Clarke/Batts vs Kazairn/Shane in a Fatal Fourway or Sabu, Sonny Siaki & Sonjay Dutt with Desire vs Alex Shelly, Dallas & David Young with Goldylocks. Zybsko & Rhodes would greet the fans at the start of the PPV and Russo would be at commentary for Jarrett-Raven (for which Jim Mitchell returns when Raven is about to get the pin, and much to everybodys surprise, knocks Jarrett out? What do you think, too WM17y?) I think that would be an OK card, especially with Raven, Naturals, Kash, Abyss & Diamond going over.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Didn't Meltzer announce that the main event would be Jarrett vs Monty?
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Didn't Meltzer announce that the main event would be Jarrett vs Monty? I just read that on 411popups. The Pros: Brown can be entertaining in promos. The Cons: He can't wrestle any better than Hardy.
Guest INXS Report post Posted September 28, 2004 With this somewhat new beginning for TNA they need to add names to that card ASAP. JJ/Hardy and AMW/XXX are the only matches I want to see - there again, JJ/Hardy should be at least *** 1/2 and AMW/XXX should be at least ****.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Unless it's Low Ki/Christopher Daniels xXx, no way in hell is an AMW/xXx match going to be ****. The one I saw on PPV recently was barely ** and I heard the other two weren't much better.
Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted September 28, 2004 I don't think i'd mind JJ/Brown if it has a stip to protect them both from exposure (i'm thinking some shitty Falls Count Anywhere thing). Wouldn't go out of my way or finacial means to see it, but it'd probably suck slightly less. Plus the Outsiders can interfere & all that, so JJ can retain & kill Brown's heat. I'm actually thinking Raven/Hardy could be a match they'd pull out. Not sure why. I'd be kinda shocked if they didn't break out the Ultimate X match for the X Title. Just since they created it & all. AMW/XXX has been done to death, so i no longer care. At least throw the Naturals in somewhere to make it fresh, or maybe even create some new challengers. Wild idea. Dusty can rot in a pit, though if he must wrestle i'd rather it be Funk than Russo.
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted September 28, 2004 JJ/Hardy should be at least *** 1/2 Seriously? I think you're joking... but if not, that would be the best match either man EVER had. JJ has been right there, but Hardy in singles action can't even come close. PLus, now he's even worse than he was a few years ago. If the main is JJ/Monty, I think that is better. It won't be a great match by any stretch, but if built properly could draw a few viewers. One thing though: They cannot do a screwball finish with Jarrett keeping the title. If they go through with this, Jarrett must lose clean, or Monty must be de-pushed. No guitar-shot, d-q crapolla.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted September 28, 2004 Some people say Jarrett vs. HBK from the 2nd In Your House was anywhere between ****-*****, making THAT his best match.
Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted September 29, 2004 I could give it ***1/2-****, but nowhere near *****. But yes, I would consider that JJ's best match, and a fine match at that.
