Kerry Advisior puts his foot in his mouth

Recommended Posts

Now.... I'm conservative and don't think Bush did so hot. However, this is bad--taken from Drudge:

LOCKHART: DEBATE CONSENSUS A 'DRAW'

Unbeknownst to Kerry adviser Mike McCurry, a C-SPAN camera quietly followed McCurry as he found Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart on Spin Alley floor and asked him his impression of the debate. Lockhart candidly said to McCurry , “The consensus is it was a draw.”

So Lockhart was honest and that's a bad thing?

If he lied and said, WE NAILED THEM TO THE WALL, then that would putting his foot in his mouth when the floor basically agreed they were even and it would have made the Democrats seem overly cocky.

I don't see how saying it was a draw is putting your foot in your mouth. Now if he said, "Bush just totally reamed us", well THAT might be putting your foot in your mouth as well.

It was a draw so I don't see the big deal.

Ehhh....... I guess I figured if he was Kerry's lackey, he should have stuck up for him. Been like "The boss did good." Politics is spin--I figure he would have used it here. The best part about this is showing it to my College Democrat buddy who is in denial about it, he's like "NO! KERRY DOMINATED! THAT IS JUST HIM BEING MODEST!"

No, if anything Kerry's drones hurt him when they just spout party line all the time. What he said is about the best thing he could've been caught saying.

Am I missing the point here? A draw doesn't hurt Kerry.

Uh, Kerry needs a helluva lot better showing than a draw in case you haven't been keeping up the last few weeks.

A draw still doesn't hurt him though. It's not like this is anything near thread worthy as I think a lot of people were expecting this debate to be an exercise in futility for the most part.

This would only be important if he got caught saying Bush won or saying something really bad about Bush. Saying it's a draw isn't anything.

It's not bad against a President that's strength is supposed to be the "war on terror."

If Kerry hammers Bush on domestic, he could galvinize a lot of support. As it is, a lot of voters who actually support Bush aren't happy about his domestic policies. If he decisively wins that...

This is, of course, if Kerry can put together a solid, intelligent domestic platform and not contradict himself every other question. He'd also better make sure Mrs. Kerry doesn't get to make a peep.

He's not going to come out and say he'll raise them, but that is what he plans to do if elected.

It was pointless to slam Bush on that in regards to 9/11, because that happened long before that. However, I don't think the tax cuts were a good idea, either. I'm not a "big government" booster, but I didn't see that the taxes were so high that people needed tax relief.

I think he's going to have to deal with Bush more in his element as well. He won't be as nervous as he was in the first debate.

That's nice. Other media outlets, including Channel 4 News and the BBC are reporting that viewers generally think that Kerry came off slightly better than Bush.

Nothing too shocking there. I agree.
