So anyway, I finally got a vinyl player from my girlfriend's dad so that I could actually listen the first Residents' album, and now that I've got one, I'd like to start up a fairly formidable record collection. I'm starting with the four Velvet Underground records, just because I thought it'd be cool to have them on vinyl... but my question is -- what are some really, really good albums that have ONLY been released on vinyl, for some reason or another never being available on CD? I've heard of several titles in the past from the likes of Captain Beefheart... Half-Japanese... etc... but I don't quite remember all of them, and some help would be appreciated.

I have a shitty set-up for my turntable, so I rarely listen to the vinyl I have. However, it's certainly cool to look at and hold and whatnot.

fake edit: The one piece of vinyl in my small collection that I'm most proud of is The Dwarves' Blood, Guts & Pussy. Terrible album by a terrible band, but the cover is glorious in 12-inch form.

I wouldn't have gone out and bought a vinyl player, to be honest, but hey, it was for free, and there were a few albums that I felt would be cool to own on vinyl. Sonic Youth's first EP is a good example, as it was never released on CD. Though it's hard as fuck to find a copy... it's on ebay sometimes, but you're bound to get outbid.
