Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2004 ties.. Hmm.. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nati..._schools09.html Federal officials yesterday said there is no terrorist connection to a computer disk found in Iraq that contained information about schools in Oregon and five other states. The disk was made by an unidentified Iraqi man who was doing research and had no connections to al-Qaida or the Iraqi insurgents battling U.S. forces, according to the FBI. The man did have links to the Baath party that ruled Iraq under Saddam Hussein, but that's true of many former government officials and community leaders. Material on the disk appeared to be downloaded randomly from a publicly accessible Education Department Web site and included such things as manuals on workplace safety, crisis-management studies and building-security diagrams. Now the reason for this alert was Beslan. I'm pretty sure there was a period of two weeks or so between Beslan and this coming out. And this info was known before Beslan as well. Who here is baffled by the thought of anybody implying that these alerts are being used for politicial purposes? It's plausible. (And i'm sure our media will note this news too. Ya know)
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted October 10, 2004 This is more along the lines of cover your ass. They don't want something to happen and people come out later, saying "Why didn't you let us know about this?" -=Mike
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2004 Yeah, I have no problem with the way the media handled it. At least any and all rumors were put to a swift halt pretty quikcly.
