Davey Boy Smith/Shawn Michaels

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about this the other day, and I couldn't come up with anytime that Davey Boy Smith beat HBK on television. Here's all the encounters I could remember:

1992 - Shawn wins IC title from Bulldog

1995 - Shawn eliminates Bulldog last from Royal Rumble

1995 - Shawn/Diesel defeat Yokozuna/Bulldog (substituting for Owen) for tag titles

1996 - draw at Beware of Dog PPV

1996 - Shawn retains World title at King of the Ring

1997 - Michaels/Austin defeat Owen/Bulldog for tag titles

1997 - Shawn wins European title from Bulldog at One Night Only

I think the only time that Davey Boy was on the winning side was at International Incident in 1996 where he teamed with Vader and Owen to beat HBK/Sid/Ahmed, but that was more Vader over Michaels, than Bulldog over Michaels.

Does anyone know if I've missed any win Davey Boy might have got over Michaels? That has to be just about the worst record any wrestler has against a single opponent, maybe only beaten by Savage/Hogan.

I'd swear they had a 1992 match on Coliseum Video when neither was champ and I want to say DBS bagged a DQ win . . . but for the life of me, I can't remember which video it was.

EDIT --- Got beat to it. Here's the excerpt from Cawthon's site:

- Davey Boy Smith defeated Shawn Michaels (w/ Sensational Sherri) via disqualification at 7:58 when Sherri grabbed hold of Smith's hair while on the ring apron and wouldn't let go; after the bout, Smith set up Sherri for the move before Michaels was able to distract Smith and allow her to escape the ring (2/17/92; Tampa, FL)

Bulldog won a battle royal on Superstars in 95 with Michaels involved, Michaels jumped over the ropes eliminating himself right at the start of the match.

Thanks guys, I knew he had to pick up a win somewhere along the way. I also remembered he was part of Razor Ramons team at the 94 Survivor Series, where Razor was sole survivor after Shawn and his team all got counted out. I guess technically that counts as a win!

Davey held Shawn off the IC belt for about a month before dropping it ... of course those never made it on TV

Very true.....I was witness to one of them in 92.

that was an awesome battle royal which i believe was for a title shot on the next Raw or something similiar, and HBK didn't want to be anywhere near Bulldog or anyone else so he took a dive.

It also had Jerry Lawler do one of my favorite battle royal tricks...standing outside of the ring on one foot and waiting for the last person.

However, Bret Hart came out, stomped on Lawler's foot, causing him to put his other foot on the ground.

Actually, the battle royal was for nothing. It really only led to increase the heat for the Bulldog/HBK showdown on Raw. I remember HBK cutting a promo on how Bulldog won a meaningless battle royal but he won the Royal Rumble.
