Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2004 Yesterday i was cleaning up my basement and i found a box with some tapes i didn't remember having or seeing for that matter, here's what i found: A Wcw clash of champions from 91 labeled Luger vs Rick Steiner/Sting vs Rude Wcw Clash TBS'S 20th year special A tape labeled 2 Clash's from 94(Not sure which ones yet) 1st 2 Nitro's A Nitro from 95 Labeled Viewers choice w/ Sting vs Flair Main Event And the one i'm thinking will be the best of the lot labeled Diesel vs Rad Radford If anybody remembers these shows could you post your thoughts on them? A Wcw clash of champions from 91 labeled Luger vs Rick Steiner/Sting vs Rude This would be Clash XVII. It's a decent card overall, with the highlight being an excellent tag match with Dustin Rhodes and Myster Partner (I won't say who in case you don't remember and want to be surprised) against The Enforcers. Sting v Rude is average, but with a hot angle to set it up. The rest ranges from poor to average. A Nitro from 95 Labeled Viewers choice w/ Sting vs Flair Main Event I can't be sure, but I think this may be a Nitro from around Halloween Havoc. If it is the Nitro I am thinking of, then it continues the tease over Sting being a face or not, leading into his match the next week against Hogan. That is the match where Hogan dressed in all black. However, with that main event, I'm also reminded of a WCWSN where the fans voted on the main event, with Flair v Sting winning out. Maybe the tape was mislabled ? And the one i'm thinking will be the best of the lot labeled Diesel vs Rad Radford That 5* classic headlined a Superstars show. Radford got one move in, a forearm blow, while Big Daddy Fool hit six mechanical moves, and his Jacknife for the finish. I haven't seen the Clash 20th anniversary special, but I'm told the highlights are all non-wrestling. The Austin v Steamboat and eight-man elimination main event matches are apparently decent, but that's about the best the card has to offer. The two Clashes from 94 aren't going to be anything special, no matter which ones they turn out to be. The January one was bland, with the highlights being Flair/Sting v Vader/Rude and Cactus/Payne v Nastys, though neither was above average. June was the one with Flair v Sting to unify the titles, with that match being the best one of the night, but only around *** at best. August's saw Flair v Hogan, with Hogan getting attacked early in the night by the masked man. The in-ring highlight is Steamboat v Austin, and this is the match were Steamboat suffered his career ending injury. That match is probably the best Clash match of '94, at around ***1/2. The November Clash is dire, with the lone highlight being Vader v Dustin Rhodes. Whichever ones you get, you'll probably want to keep your finger on the FF button at all times. Guest JJW Report post Posted October 20, 2004 I just finished the tbs 20th special,it just seemed to happen, nothing good at all.The main event was terrible, the only saving grace for the show was Cactus Jack's commentary and the interesting teaming of Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton managed by Micheal P.S. Hayes.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 20, 2004 However, with that main event, I'm also reminded of a WCWSN where the fans voted on the main event, with Flair v Sting winning out. Maybe the tape was mislabled ? Actually BOTH are right. Sting/Flair was the SN 'interactive' ME on the 7/9/94 show. I won't spoil the ending, but WCW was beginning into 'hit the road Flair this is the Hulkster's show now' mode so you can probably guess..................... The Sting/Flair (damn how many times did they wrestle on Nitro anyway?) match on Nitro 11/6/95 ended with Sting.....I won't say it. That would be during one of Hogan's rare 'team player' periods. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 I recently was looking through blank tapes to see what I could tape over and I found a WWF tape of Superstars from when Owen/Yoko were the champs, taking on The Smoking Guns. The rest of the tape was filled with a bunch of UT stuff from back then I believe leading up to the UT vs. UT match. I also found a tape of a bunch of Nitros and Thunders, I made a compilation of all the Raven/Saturn vs. Benoit/Malenko vs. (I forgot the 3rd team involved in this). As bad as some of that old WWF WRESTLING was, it was at least refreshing when compentant stories of fantasy could be written.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2004 I'm guessing the third team you are talking about is Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr. The various matches between those three teams in '99 were great.
