Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Way to start the Alex Brink era. Hey at least now the Cougs are the undisputed 8th place team in the Pac 10. Assuming UW beats Arizona in two weeks, the Apple Cup WILL be for that prestigious 8th spot. Christ how long has it been since the basketball team outdid the football team? Damaramu 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Must distract from petty bickering. Uh, how about those Cougars! Only down by 21 in the second quarter. Yeah! Well I didn't start the fight. He had no reason to start anything but he did.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 23, 2004 I didn't start anything, I called you out on your 'at least KSU was exciting' BS when you were in reality bitching throughout the whole game.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 FSU boggles me. I'm guessing they'll ultimately pull out a win this week, but come on. It's into the third quarter and they're down 14-3 to Wake Forest, with the offense doing nothing. Wake's good and tricky, but FSU is better than this. You almost get tagged by Syracuse, annihilate Virginia, and then have to play catch-up to Wake. If they do win, Wisconsin still deserves to move ahead of them and shore up the top 5. Nothing but consistency from the Badgers. My boys recover from last week's collapse against said Noles by walking over Duke 37-16. 223 yards rushing from Alvin Pearman, and another 43 receiving. I think he topped Duke's offense by himself.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 23, 2004 EWU destroys Weber St 51-7, so at least SOMEBODY in the Northwest won today. Idaho: losing WSU: losing UW: are you fucking kidding?
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Hey, people tend to mock my Top 25 a little bit, but there's a reason that I only have Florida State at #9 in there, and lack of consistency is it. Honestly, that Virginia game is really the only time they've looked good all year. Wisconsin, Cal, Utah, and Georgia should all be ahead of Florida State right now, and obviously a lot more teams should be added to that list if they lose today. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 I didn't start anything, I called you out on your 'at least KSU was exciting' BS when you were in reality bitching throughout the whole game. I wasn't. I was fine and going on about how it was good that it was close until they started losing off of playing like crap. When it was just KSU being good it was fine. But when OU starte botching coverage I got mad. And even now I'm not mad. I'm glad it was close and glad it was a test. We didn't get a test at all last season. Then we got knocked on our ass by the first team that was able to stand up.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Technically I guess my loyalty to ND ended when they bitchslapped UW. So BC possibly beating them can't be a bad thing. Hell this'd be four in a row now?
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 I was worried about that game. One, because I picked BC in Bored's contest, and, two, because it's just not BC-ND, unless BC makes a miraculous last minute comeback. Glad to see they came through.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 You know what pisses me off about Florida State? The defense is strong as ever and the offense CAN'T HELP but to lose football games! Sexton, Rix...it doesn't matter. The offense is in the toilet on this team.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Just got back from the OU/KU game. *yawn* Same old, same old. OU plays like they don't care in the first half. Comes out and beats ass in the second half. Adrian Peterson goes over 100 again and now has over1000 on the season. Jason White throws for nearly 400 yards. 41-10 Sooners. *yawn* What was the point of Stoops passing for a TD with under a minute left with Jason White still in the game? Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 23, 2004 UCLA on top of ASU 42-31 with 7 min left in the 4th Say what you want about the P10 this year, but it should be pretty well split: USC, Cal, UCLA, ASU the top echelon (though ASU might drop down) EDIT: As I say that ASU right back on the board, 42-37 UO/SU a level beneath OSU sorta there WSU, UW, UA god help them

Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Wisconsin looks to have a fairly easy road to go undefeated. The only problem would be if Minnesota really wants to keep the axe next week.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 That's two weeks. Not that it really matters. The Gophers lousy defense will make John Stocco look like Dan Marino.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Opps, Yahoo doesn't show bye weeks on schedules. It's very disappointing that Michigan and Wisconsin won't be playing this year. Michigan has been surprisingly good even though they're starting a freshmen QB and HB.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 That or Stoops is an asshole. Not a knock on his coaching ability. But his mentor is Steve Spurier. He made a comment before the game that he may have to tack on an extra TD here or there so that pollsters that only see the final score and not the entire game will vote more favorably b/c the score is higher b/c the pollsters seem to only pay attention to final scores. So that's why he did it. So that some coach that didn't watch the game and doesn't know the stats would go "Oh OU blew KU out 41-10! Look at that score!" Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Lord, that was the worst game I've seen in a long while. Even worse than last week's USC v Kentucky debacle. The Michigan/Purdue 5-0 game from a long time ago was much worse but they at least had snow to blame.
Bored 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 It's very disappointing that Michigan and Wisconsin won't be playing this year. It's time for the NCAA to allow conferences with at least 10 teams to hold conference championship games instead the current 12 team rule. If you have more than nine teams in a conference you can't guarentee that the top two teams in the conference will play each other. Of course everyone remembers the same thing happened in the Big Ten two years ago with Ohio State and Iowa.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 23, 2004 Ohio State routinely dodges the teams having a fluke good year with the scheduling. They almost always miss Northwestern and Minnesota when they're having a good season.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 24, 2004 LSU conveniently had the CCG to benefit from, SC had no such luxury. Hell it wouldn't have been hard to just let SC whomp on Wazzu again. Not like you have to split the conf or anything.
Guest GreatOne Report post Posted October 24, 2004 Ohio State routinely dodges the teams having a fluke good year with the scheduling. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2004 How exactly did LSU benefit from the conference championship game? If anything, it hurt them when they knocked Georgia down, and lost their quality win bonus.
Bored 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2004 I'd have to dig up the old thread from last year but even though LSU did hurt their quality win they hepled their strength of schedule greatly with that second game against Georgia and that was what allowed them to hop USC. Going into the SEC title game USC actually had a better strength of schedule than LSU. Important game for me and in the contest this week, Oregon leads Stanford 16-13 with 2:50 left. No idea who has the ball since it's not on t.v. Stanford needs to win or their bowl hopes suddenly get dicey as their remaining schedule is very tough and have only one home game left. Shit, Stanford loses.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2004 Wow. Utah is kicking the crap out of UNLV 35-7 in the second quarter. I'd feel bad for UNLV, but then I remember an ex who I don't particularly like goes there, so some small part of me likes seeing UNLV get the crap kicked out of them. Any chance of Utah not finishing undefeated? I know yesterday the ESPN announcers were beating their chests, talking about Wyoming may take them down, which gave me the laugh of the day. It is even funnier now that Wyoming got just crushed by CSU 30-7. Can any of the teams on Utah's remaining schedule get it done? I think BYU has an off chance since it will be a rivalry game, but, otherwise, I can't see anyone else on the schedule being able to get it done.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2004 Two great games going on now, if anyone's watching. NC State/Miami, with the Wolfpack up 3 and the Canes pulling off a brilliant fake punt just now. Direct snap to a runner, and the kicker jumps and turns backward, pretending that the snap went over his head. The whole line bit on it. Clever as hell. Then there's Arkansas and Georgia, and this Georgia looks somewhere between the team that lost to Tennessee and the one that killed LSU. Hogs up 14-10 as the third quarter gets underway.
