Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 9, 2002 Did that Macho Man scene make wrestling and its fans look totally stupid or what? I can't believe Savage said that role was going to make him a mainstream star. Spiderman attracts young adults, older adults who grew up on it, and KIDS. That's why it'll make more than Star Wars, which is more for older people. Here's my logic gap question: When Green Goblin gassed Spiderman, why didn't he just let him hit the ground? By letting Spidey live and giving him the choice of joining the forces of evil or not, Goblin took a chance that Spidey would say no and continue to stand in his way of domination. Had he let him hit the ground and die, the path would be guarenteed to be clear.

Guest Report post Posted May 9, 2002 Seriously..the sold out theatre BOOED at the end of the movie...people were laughing throughout the whole movie..at parts that weren't meant to be funny. Horrible script..Great actors, but the some of the "serious" lines were just hysterical. And the Goblins voice....*groan*. Please do not see this at the theatre...this is a strictly rental feature. Dude, WHAT are you on? That movie RULED, and I am one of the most PICKY people when comes to the Comicbook-to-movie genre. I mean, X-Men sorely disappointed me. But Spider-Man, I don't have one negative thing to say about this movie. Hell, before I saw it I couldn't even STAND Tobey MacGuire.. but now I don't even mind him. I loved the spots with Jamieson! JK Simmons was PERFECT in that role!
Guest Report post Posted May 9, 2002 The Green Goblin was insane. Why would he do logical things like kill Spider-Man at that moment or unmask him? He was all about chaos.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted May 9, 2002 The Green Goblin was insane. Why would he do logical things like kill Spider-Man at that moment or unmask him? He was all about chaos. Truer words were never spoken. The Green Goblin alter-ego of Norman Osborne was insane, why would he do something logical like unmask Parker or even let him die? Hell, insanity would basically be the only reason why he kept mouthing off near the end before Peter started beating his ass back.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 9, 2002 Spiderman attracts young adults, older adults who grew up on it, and KIDS. That's why it'll make more than Star Wars, which is more for older people. See that right there is a much too common misconception with fans and nonfans of Star Wars. Star Wars isn't and never was meant to be an adult movie. It has always been aimed towards the young. This common misconception is partly why episode one got such a backlash. People who were kids for the first 3 are adults now and alot of them didn't go into episode one in a kid's state of mind. In ten years this generation of kids will love the current Star Wars films as much as fans of the old ones, while a bunch of 40-60 year olds are still bitching that the original 3 were ruined. Star Wars is still a kids movie now. Unless the older fans realize this and watch the movies as a kid instead of a cynical adult they won't enjoy episode 2 or 3 either. Now note i'm not saying it was a good movie or as good as first 3. However if people watched it in a kid's state of mind it's not nearly as bad compared to being a cynical adult watching it. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 9, 2002 I honestly don't know how anyone could say it sucked. I can see where it could've bored some people but I can't see how it could've sucked. I loved the Fox cartoon and a friend of mine said the cartoon was pretty accurate compared to the comic. And the movie followed right along with the cartoon so i can't see accuracy being a concern. They had the character of Peter Parker and Spiderman down pretty well. Parker acted the way he should and Tobey was the perfect casting choice. Spiderman gave Parker more confidence and even though he didn't throw out much smart ass comments you could see signs of it. He was learning to be Spiderman in this movie so i'm sure the comments will show up more in next movie. Sure some of the romance dialoge was corny and cliched but most romance dialoge does it wasn't just in this case. However you have to remember that Parker is a dork and has a hard time talking to MJ. So the corniness and cliches actually play into Parker's character since he can't talk to MJ very well he can't be smooth while talking to her so falls back to corny lines. Tobey and Dunst had good chemistry on screen so even with much being desired dialoge wise the love story was watchable because of the chemistry. Sure there were some logic holes but there always are in this type of movie. So since there wasn't any gapping logic gaps it's ok. Hell most of the comic books probably have logic holes. I found the Pajama outfit to be a funny joke aimed at the fanboys who scream and whine about outfit changes even when it's just a slight change as in spiderman. Speaking of outfits, the Green Goblin looks alot better in the movie then i thought it would. It was alot better then a little green man in purple pants and little purple hat would've been. Speaking of Goblin, once again we got to see just why Willem Dafoe is one of the best villian actors ever. The scene with the mirror was a truly great scene that showed off Dafoe's ability wonderfully. The Green Gonlin voice was good too...it was insanely evil sounding. The only part i didn't like was the obvious dialoge that they edited into the crowd on the bridge near the end. I also didn't like the obvious edited in american flag scene that ended the movie. It's bad enough that movies are editing out the WTC, but do we honestly need to also insert propaganda into them? In closing... The theater i was in clapped at the end of the movie. You just don't see very often after movies now a days. However i can't tell if the clapping was for the movie or for the obvious propaganda at the end. But i'm going to hope for the best and say that it was for the movie.
Guest Report post Posted May 12, 2002 Well I have seen it twice and I must say it is one of the best movies I have ever been too. Only thing I noticed that was screwed up was toward the end, when the goblin is holding the girl and the train, and then he drops both of them and they go to a clip of spiderman's face, the reflection in his eyes were wrong, they had the train in the right eye when it was on left side and girl in left eye when she was on the right. The ending was a surprise and set up a sequel perfectly. I loved the movie, two thumps way up!
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 12, 2002 The ending was a surprise and set up a sequel perfectly. I loved the movie, two thumps way up! Well only to those that aren't familiar with the story. Everyone who knows Spiderman knew that ending was coming if the director was trying to stay true to Spiderman. Guest Risk Report post Posted May 12, 2002 To be honest, I can't say one bad thing about Spider-Man. It was a great movie,it had a great plot, good special effects, great actors, IMO.
Guest Report post Posted May 12, 2002 Logic: Most saw Episode I, and even if they didn't like it, they'll probably still go see Episode II because it's supposed to be better. Same Logic IN ACTION!~: Most saw Glitter and hated it, but if a better SEQUEL were made, everybody would flock to it opening day! No matter whatcha call it, Episode II is still a sequel to Episode I. If they didn't like the first one, why go see a sequel to a movie you didn't like?
Guest Report post Posted May 13, 2002 >$114 MILLION opening weekend, reports Boxofficereport.com Good luck beating that record, George... You don't think Episode 2 will top that? You must be joking me. Well, Episode 2 is playing in a lesser amount of theatres... so it's a possibility.
Guest Report post Posted May 13, 2002 To be honest, I can't say one bad thing about Spider-Man. It was a great movie,it had a great plot, good special effects, great actors, IMO. Agreed. I had a million-and-one bad things to say about X-Men, and I was anticipating something similar with Spider-Man. But, I was pleasantly surprised. Hell, the whole "organic webbing" thing didn't even bother me! Way to go Sam Raimi!
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted May 13, 2002 I would be shocked if Episode II beats it. Another thing against Episode II is that many people may go see it Thursday, which wouldn't count in their weekend gross.
