Guest TDinDC1112 Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 The word going around among the wrestlers is that the edited version of the Best Damned Sports Show specials look awesome. They will air this Wednesday and Thursday evening on the Fox Sports Network. I know that there is a good portion of the readership reading this that is cold to TNA as a product (for justifiable reasons like the ROH situation and other things that have gone down), but everyone should make sure they tune into the specials this week. Even if you dislike TNA, the health of the industry desperately needs a competitor to step to the plate and force WWE to work harder creatively. A good showing could lead to TNA getting a more prominent position on Fox Sports (some internally believe possibly even Monday nights) and would give a hard working crew of wrestlers (who I will be the first to say aren't booked correctly much of the time) a fighting chance to survive and make a living in the business. All the complaints of a crappy timeslot for Impact! and the price of Victory Road don't wash this week. It's primetime and it's free. Watch the show because even if you watch and hate it in the end and never want to spend a dime on TNA, you've already helped to support their wrestlers and the industry as a whole.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 The industry does need a competitor to WWE. However, that competitor won't be TNA, regardless of whether this BDSSP deal gets them a better timeslot.
Guest Evolution Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 I don't think Mike Johnson realizes that the only viewers that count who watch the BDSSP special are those with Nielsen diaries or boxes. So, if you've got a Nielsen diary or box, watch the specials, even if you hate it and never want to spend another dime on TNA, because then and only then will you be helping the industry.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 I was checking out the new Observer yesterday and reading the write up Meltz did about it and he said that there was some good matches for sure. But he totally ripped apart the segments with the BDSSP cast members. He said the Arnold/Midget match was atrocious and that Chris Rose offended a LOT of people there with his "Wrestling is Fake" attitude that he DOES have in real life(everytime they talk wrestling on BDSSP he has a really negative stance on it).
TNABaddboi Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 DK, can you post that here? That seems like it would be an interesting read.

geniusMoment Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 Chris Rose is just jealous because he could not become Piper's new "personal assistant".

That's not really true anymore. With the new digital cable boxes, you cable provider can track what every customer watches and then they can send in the stats.
Guest whitemilesdavis Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 Any word on buy rate yet for Victory Road? And I guess the test for this special is if it does better than BDSSP on an average Wednesday, then it is a success.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Only if the 'world' consists of Jeff Jarrett's house.

I read that it is getting harder for Nielson to track ratings because a lot of people have digital cable now.
