Again a high school athlete dedicates himself to his sport as much as a future scientist does to what he likes, there's no limit to the amount of scholarships one can get, it's just a matter of how hard they are willing to work...i agree, athletes get things easier, but hey that's business, shit or get off the pot...is it fair? not necessarily, but what can we do?

Hey--I'm fine with it the way it is now. I know from experience--high school sports take a ton of time and heart. I have NO problems with athletes getting scolarships. The question is do they deserve farther payment--the answer I think is no.

not even JUST during the season? say 150 bucks for two weeks...

Remember that they do get fringe benefits--free food, clothes, tutors, etc. etc. Plus if you win you can pawn your ring.... jk unless you play for UGA. However, how do you pay people? Does it matter on what university, how good the team is, how good the player is? 150 for everyone would create problems, besides paying them to begin with.

No, but they should be allowed off-season jobs and a reasonable allowance during the season.

I also think they should allowed any perk within reason and legality. However, I'd restrict it so it couldn't be used until after a player agrees to play for a school. To keep colleges from using it to help recruitement.

I'm all for off-season jobs since some of these guys do have families, car insurance and normal everyday bills that other college students can pay with a job.

Do they have lots of time for a job? No, but the time does exist in the off-season. Restricting them in the off-season is where I tend to get a little ticked.
