franchise632 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 Roger Clemens officially filed for free agency today. He says he is unsure if he will pitch this next season, but if you look at his last 3 years they are nothing if not impressive for someone who wants to retire. Any thoughts on where he goes? I seriously doubt he would go back to NY but stranger things have happend. If he could get a deal like the one he got in Houston he would probably think about it. sfaJack 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 He ain't going back to New York, unless it's to sit in the stands and watch a game at Yankee Stadium (something he recently said he'd like to do). He filed for free agency after announcing his retirement last year, too. It's more of a formality than anything. If he pitches next year, it will only be with the Astros. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 Yes, it is little more than a formality. If he does not file, the Astros own his rights entirely over the next season.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 While I know there's next-to-no chance of it happening, I'd absolutely LOVE IT if Clemens went back to the Yankees. Their fans have spent the last season raging about how much they hate him; it'd be funny to listen to them backtrack and have to blow smoke up his ass again. Unfortunately that ain't happening. But it'd still be a riot to listen to.
Guest Chris2005 Report post Posted November 12, 2004 I am suprised that Roger didn't say he was going to retire this year. That way he can get presents from all of his teammates, have his opponents give him a standing ovation once he walked off the mound the last time. Then a week later he can come back and say he is going to play another season. OOPPS HE ALREADY DID THAT.

Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted November 13, 2004 The first week it happend when he signed with Houston...and I think someone in the Roger Clemens wins CY Young Award isn't too fond of him either. Personally, I don't care. How many times has Michael Jordan retired and came back? "I'm retiring for good! My daddy would want it this way! "OK, seriously, this is my last game!" "I'm only playing with the Wizards because it's fun. I promise, last time!"

Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 I can't hate anyone who gives their heart and soul to the Yankees. He was a great Yankee. There'll always be a spot in my heart for the ol' rocket.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted November 20, 2004 And I can't like anyone that lies to me (as a fan) for over a year. I think Roger's "unretirement" or whatever the fuck Fat Rodge called it told me more about Roger Clemens that I'll ever need to know. I mean, yes, he's a gigantic asshole, always has been, probably always will be. And even when he played for us, I knew that Roger Clemens capable of burning us. But I just couldn't predict he'd have the balls and the gall to pull that stunt. And that's what it was. A stunt. If you can't even wait out the next Spring Training, you never intended to retire. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 I see your point anglesault. It does suck that Roger lied to us But personally I was more mad at Andy Pettite. although in retrospect it seems that george simply didnt want him. but the yanks offered way more money and better chances. He could have become the all time leader in wins for the team. I personally wanted to tell his wife and all the other texas people to shut up hes a yankee dammit. wtf is up with players accepting deals to be close to home. just move to ny (well actually pettite did have a home in ny in White Plains i believe which is close to my hometown of Yonkers and the city where my dad was born) sheesh who the f*** wants to live in freakin texas anyway? oh crap I just probably incited a war oh well Take it from here angle
