Guest Chris2005 Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Mike and the Maddog local radio talk show hosts on WFAN in NY and syndicated on the Yes network have been complaining all day today about the Owens segment before the Cowboys/Eagles game. I haven't seen it myself but they are talking about how Owens did a segment with a nude Nicollette Sheridan in the eagles lockerroom. Their case is that it is not a time or place for a football game. They are blaiming both the NFL and ABC.

Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I really don't understand the NFL or ABC anymore. I'll go back to the Thursday night season opener. The game was a complete afterthought in the advertisements. IT'S FUCKING FOOTBALL. If there's one fucking sport in this country that sells itself it's football. I don't need 5 music acts during the game, I don't need reality tv with players, I WANT FUCKING FOOTBALL!!!!!!
Guest Chris2005 Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 ] Hello? The Dallas Cowgirls anyone. God, we are GUYS. How does a nude woman NOT have a place in football? I'm all for MORE nude women involved with football. I bet Vince McMahon was catering to you when he created the XFL. Mike and the Maddog's main points are the following. One it is football and they the league and abc should focus on football. Another is that the segment insinuated sex was about to happen between Owens/Sheridan when Owens said I guess they are going to have to win without me referring to the Eagles as Sheridan naked jumped into his arms. Their last main point is that it is 9 p.m. and kids are watching. Parents are going to let their kids watch football at that the time thinking that nothing sensual is going to happen or be shown. Plus they brought up the fact that some markets wouldn't show Saving Private Ryan on the 11th yet they show this bs.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Oh, please. It was funny. Grow the fuck up. They were spoofing Desperate Housewives, which is also on in Prime Time.

I am talking about what their thoughts are not mine. Plus their point about Desperate Housewives seems somewhat valid. Thats because people you turnon football to you know watch football. When their kids are watching football and see that it negates it. They said that Desperate Housewives should be shown at 9 p.m. because parents know to regulate that and not let their kids watch.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Oh, please. It was funny. Grow the fuck up. They were spoofing Desperate Housewives, which is also on in Prime Time. I don't really give a crap. I'm there to watch a football game not some failed comedy hour skit. I could care less about NFL players when they aren't playing football.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 The sexual insinuation to a child would also likely go over their heads.

I could care less about NFL players when they aren't playing football. Well, gee, I've never thought about it that way. Fuck those networks for advertising their hot television shows! You're being absurd. The networks pay an assload of money to show football; they deserve to be able to pimp their retarded drama shows that no person with more than a brain stem would watch. The skit was neither offensive nor funny. The game hadn't started yet, and if you had really wanted analysis, you'd have watched NFL Primetime fifteen seconds prior. Your arguments are straw men, and particularly weak ones at that.
Guest Chris2005 Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Here is a link to an article on nfl.com that gives statements from both the NFL and ABC about the incident. The link is not entirely working but there is a Headline for the article about the statements on the right. http://www.nfl.com/partners/aol?http://www.nfl.com/
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Link just goes to NFL.com.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Actually I find NFL Primetime more offensive.
Guest Chris2005 Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I don't really give a crap. I'm there to watch a football game not some failed comedy hour skit. Exactly people watch football for football not for advertising. I guess some people on this board love watching the World Series on Fox and seeing Fox pimping all of it's horrible shows and showing off all celebrities at the games. Does anybody remember that show skin???? You know I watch wrestling for wrestling and I dont watch for the horrible comedy hour skits and the pillow fights between the women.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Then you're obviously not holding out for analysis, being that MNF and NFL Primetime are run by the same company. Next time, if you just want to watch the game and not the pregame festivities and skits, turn on ABC at 9:15.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I don't understand what your big ass problem is with this skit. Really. It was done before the game even started. If you don't want to watch the retarded skits and Hank Williams, Jr. singing through his alcoholic haze, turn on ABC at 9:15, not 9:00. Otherwise, quit whining.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 It's just a fucking waste of everyone's time IMO. I don't really give a shit about it, I was more taking the time to bring up how annoying the music acts are and some of the shit they do at halftime.
Vern Gagne Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 All of those MNF skits are bad. This one was no different. It did however suprise me TO decided to "bonk" Nicolotte Sheridan instead of doing something wacky like going for the nearby Lombardi Trophy or autographing the towel.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 What are they supposed to do at halftime, then? Speaking from someone who's played the game, halftime is crucial. So what are they gonna do, sit there and wait for fifteen minutes with a blank screen? Marketing wise, bringing in a high profile musical guest will actually draw more viewers to the show, being that some people who normally wouldn't have watched the game (i.e. non football fans, people who like football but not those teams) are watching to see their favorite band, etc. If you don't like it, change the channel. You're not being forced to watch it. Count out fifteen minutes and turn the television back when the time has elapsed. What annoys me more is the constant commercials after only fifteen seconds of action (i.e. fourth quarter, less than two minutes to go). That's more shameless whoring than musical acts or slightly amusing skits.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I think the commercials have been horrible this year. It seems at least with ABC they take a commercial break for everything. Especially when they do commercials, show a PAT and then go back to commercials.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I agree. It's horrendous within two minuts where they come back for one play, someone calls a time out, and they go back to commercial. You get five to ten seconds of action and then two minutes of commercial.
Guest Chris2005 Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 How many good musical acts have the NFL ever got? I still remember Ja Rule or was it Ashanti getting booed out of the place in Philly I believe.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I think the commercial thing is an ABC only thing so far. ESPN and Sunday games haven't seemed near as bad as the MNF games this season. But ABC has just horribly mishandled MNF since the Dennis Miller debacle. Especially when they pick Dallas to be on 4 times and then whine when the games eventually suck. It didn't take a genius to realize that Dallas/Washington is probably going to be a boring and crappy game.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 CBS does it pretty bad, too. I noticed it a lot during the Pittsburgh-Brownstains game this week.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I was passed out after the first quarter of that game. I figured it was going to be one of the those weeks and my other choice was even worse with the Bears/Titans. ESPN is usually pretty good but commercials are a plus with their announce team.
smh810 Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I was deeply offended by the MNF opening.... That is deeply offended that it wasnt Eva Longoria.
the pinjockey Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I was more offended by the fact they had George Fucking Lopez in the booth during the game. That is what timeouts, quarter breaks and halftime are for.
NoCalMike Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I was more offended by the fact that TO and McNabb tried to look cool and "mock" their arguing on the sideline from last week, except for the fact that this week they were winning the game, and kicking ass. How about they do that the next time they are down by a few touchdowns, and McNabb has one-hopped or thrown an INT, then show me how much you want to make light of the confrontation.
the pinjockey Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 I fail to see the problem with that considering everyone else were the ones to blow that whole thing out of proportion.
therealworldschampion Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 That's exactly right, considering the fact that the media loves to blow everything out of proportion, I failed to see the problem with McNabb and Owens' routine on the sidelines. In fact, I thought it was hysterical that they were taunting the media like that.
