Damaramu Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 I dunno why, but I just can't get into the "big" rivalry of Alabama/Auburn It's not because I'm not a big SEC guy, since I can get into other rivalries from there (e.g. Tenn/Florida), but I just don't feel this one at all People are making a bigger deal out of it this year b/c of the BCS implications. Last year they didn't make near the deal.
Slayer Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 I'm not just talking about the recent history of the rivalry. Alabama/Auburn is always mentioned as one of the top rivalries in all of college football (usually with Michigan/OSU and OU/Nebraska) and as I said, I just don't feel it
lomasmoney Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 O well Michigan lost, we still have a conference title and can still smell the Roses if Iowa does us a huge favor and wins tonight
Slayer Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 O well Michigan lost Losing to our biggest rival is hardly an "oh well" loss, IMO Though a trip to the Rose Bowl anyway (come on Iowa) would soothe the pain enough
2GOLD Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 The Michigan loss really ruined the night for the BCS. In a game that if Michigan wins, the voters may have jumped the Wolverines over Utah and knocked Utah out of the hunt. Now IF Utah wins, the BCS has no choice but to include them in the selection process. Course, they can still leave them out for Texas, which I still 100% expect them to do anyway.
Vern Gagne Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Texas is already ahead of Utah in the BCS standings.
Bored Posted November 20, 2004 Author Report Posted November 20, 2004 As long as Utah is in the Top 6 they are automatically in the BCS. There was little chance of Michigan making up the ground even if they won today. As long as Utah doesn't completely lay an egg today, they are going to the Fiesta Bowl. Kyle Orton threw for 522 yards today and six touchdowns against Indiana. He had 401 yards passing the first half.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Yeah I think Orton wanted to get himself back into the Heisman hunt.
Damaramu Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 This is not going to be an impressive win for Auburn if they win by 1 point. This may just hurt them in the polls.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 It'll still help them because Alabama is a much better team than Baylor is.
Damaramu Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 It'll still help them because Alabama is a much better team than Baylor is. But not a better team than Texas, OSU, and A&M.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Tennessee and Georgia are better than any of those teams. LSU as well. And Alabama is on the same level as the current A&M team.
2GOLD Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Auburn is getting ready to walk the dog on Bama.
Vern Gagne Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 If Alabama had a competent coach they'd probably be winning this game.
Damaramu Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Come on Roll Tide! Do something. If you can keep it close you can at least hurt them in the polls.
2GOLD Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 If Alabama had a competent coach they'd probably be winning this game. A good quarterback wouldn't hurt. Pennington is just horrid.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Pennington has his moments of brilliance. It's just after sucking the meat missle the other 90% of the game.
Vern Gagne Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 If Alabama had a competent coach they'd probably be winning this game. A good quarterback wouldn't hurt. Pennington is just horrid. He's not improving. That's the coaching staffs fault. Either Pennington shouldn't start, or they aren't getting the best out of him.
2GOLD Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Pennington has his moments of brilliance. It's just after sucking the meat missle the other 90% of the game. Two touchdowns and eight interceptions in eight games doesn't fill me with hope.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Sorry I meant 95% of the game. I'd blame the coaching staff for his overall suckiness. They either aren't running the offense to his strengths or not coaching the guy.
Damaramu Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Oh dammit....Alabama has got to put together one hell of a 4th quarter to win this game. Hell just get it close!
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 I'm still betting either: 1. USC loses to Notre Dame or 2. Auburn loses to Tennesee
Damaramu Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Oh what do I care if Auburn wins? They probably still can't catch OU thanks to the computer rankings.
Damaramu Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 These announcers are enough to make me sick. They sound like they're going to jump out of their seats and celebrate everytime Auburn scores. And they sounded like someone had killed there dogs during the first half when Alabama was dominating.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 It is 21-7 for Iowa and they just recovered a Wisconsin fumble. Looks like that OHHHio State mascot stomping the roses might have been counting chickens.
Slayer Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 The Hawkeyes are doing a good job of helping Michigan back into the Rose Bowl
Damaramu Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 I knew that Michigan would still go to The Rose Bowl just b/c I figured Iowa was better than Wisconsin.
Bored Posted November 21, 2004 Author Report Posted November 21, 2004 Assuming Iowa holds on here's how the Big Ten bowl bids will probably go and who they will likely play as things stand at the moment: Rose: Michigan vs. California Capital One: Iowa vs. Tennessee Outback: Wisconsin vs. Georgia Alamo: Ohio State vs. Oklahoma State Sun: Purdue vs. UCLA Music City: Northwestern vs. South Carolina Motor City: Minnesota vs. Miami of Ohio
Art Sandusky Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 These announcers are enough to make me sick. They sound like they're going to jump out of their seats and celebrate everytime Auburn scores. And they sounded like someone had killed there dogs during the first half when Alabama was dominating. It's called SEC commentators cheering for the greater good of the conference and having a member of the conference potentially play for the national title.
Slayer Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Thank you Iowa At least one football team from Wisconsin chokes when I need them to
