Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 unfortunately I can barely read that because the FAQ is partially encoded
Guest Chumpstain Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Try reading the General FAQs at the top, either by Wizardman or TogeraTwo. They have all the items in them as well. Muni Shinobu's FAQs were written for the Japanese version before the US release, and thus are done using Japanese names and encoding.

Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted December 6, 2004 Ok how do you unlock all these hidden items I have not found yet? Last thing I got was that scepter that x2 your attacks when your about to die, and only got that because I was trying to unlock the Qiao girls. I just got the Poison and Blast orb, there is one left plus at least ten items. and four other saddles
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 As Chumpstain said, there is an individual called "Muni Shinobu" somewhere around cyberspace that does all the guides for this game. She is Japanese, I believe, but does offer English versions of her guides, which are basic but give you enough details in order to complete the task at hand. This is her profile at GameFAQs I swear I've been through one or two of the FAQ files at GameFAQs where they have given credit to Muni for her contribution and linked to parts of her site that are in english. However, I'm not going to sit here and go through each line of every guide, that's for you to do. This is also a fun site for some random DW related shit: http://www.chongwanhsing.per.sg/dynastywarriors/index.html UYI
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Here is something I just came across for saddles, Hex Mark Saddle (2/3) Effect: Luck up Level: Campaign Against Liu Bei Forces: Yellow Turban Musou Mode Difficulty to get: Medium Requirements: Defeat Guan Yu and Zhao Yun before ALL enemy reinforcements arrive. Then deplete Liu Bei's life about halfway and the Valuable Item message will appear on the same little island where you got Red Hare, to the bottom right of the map. Storm Runner Saddle (1/3) Effect: Mounted attack up Level: Campaign Against Cao Cao Forces: Lu Bu's Forces Difficulty to get: Medium Requirements: First go to the top of the circled area to the right of the map, and defeat Cao Zhang. Xu Huang will appear as an ambush party, defeat Xu Huang, now after Chen Gong says to look out for more ambush parties, go and enter the left fort from the back entrance, you will see through Yue Jin's ambush party and he will retreat, then wait until Xiahou Dun appears as reinforcements, defeat Xiahou Dun. The Valuable Item message at the very bottom left of the map, outside the castle. Shadow Runner Saddle (3/3) Effect: Can't fall off any horse Level: Battle of Tong Gate Forces: Shu's Forces Difficulty to get: Hard Requirements: First defeat all 4 generals to the southeast of the map, then the Ice Castle cut-scene appears and the Ice Castle is discovered. Wait until Cao Cao meets with Han Sui cut-scene, defeat Yu Jin and Xu Huang, then defeat Cao Cao's sub-generals and deplete his unit's morale to at least one star, then wait until the Lots of horses cut-scene and Han Sui refuses to defect message. Valuable Item message to the bottom right of the map. Note: To trigger to Lots of Horses cut-scene wait for Han Sui to go acoss the brige to Cao Cao then you go to the entrance of the Ice Castle and then Han Sui will refuse to join Cao Cao. So you then go back to were Han Sui and Cao Cao are fighting and you then get the Lots Of Horses cut-scene, so you get the saddle and kill Cao Cao. You have to kill Cao Ren to get into the Ice Castle. (Thanks to Tyler Rives for this information) Elephant Saddle (2/3) Effect: Begin stage mounted on an elephant Level: Nanman Campaign Forces: Nanman Forces Difficulty to get: Medium Requirements: Ride on an elephant into the enemies base. Note: The difficult part is to get an elephant from an ally, try using Huang Gai in Free Mode as his bombs can knock allies of there elephants. UYI
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 http://www.chongwanhsing.per.sg/dynastywarriors/index.html UYI In one of the Empires ending pics: Why is Dong Zhuo riding on Yuan Shao's back? Yuan Shao looks terrified. Gotta like that Wu picture.
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Drunken Wu bastards! Ah, that's awesome. I love Taishi Ci falling over. And Dong Zhuo is riding on Yuan Shao because that's the kind of guy he is. I think he's crushing him... Oh, and how can you not mention the fact that Pang Tong is *flying* through the air? ...Wei's is really cute, or maybe that's just me.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Drunken Wu = win. Yeah, Dong Zhuo is a dick, so it makes sense. Poor Yuan Shao. I approve of Pang Tong flying, as well as what looks like two generic officers carrying the Yellow Turban guy. Wei is supposed to be evil, though. They should be skewering the corpse of Liu Bei and slapping around Han emperors or something.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 THAT would be awesome. I have a complete distaste for Liu Bei and his band of pussy men. He's espicially bad in Empires, as everything he does 'is for the people'. It just reeks of false political sentiment and makes me want to kill him more and more. Shu has it's perks though, such as Huang Zhong, Pang Tong and Wei Yan.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 It's fun to make Pang Tong your leader in Empires. He's funny. Wei Yan would be interesting to try too. If you hate Shu, like me, don't bother reading the actual Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It's one big wank-fest for Liu Bei and Guan Yu. They even try and pass off Wu's brilliant assassination of Guan Yu as dishonorable. What crap. Cao Cao owns Liu Bei.
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted December 7, 2004 You're definitely right about the book. ROTK has a certain.. bias, but I still enjoyed it. There are some delightful stories in there; some of it's just hilarious, or so I thought. So is Xtreme Legends ever coming out for Xbox? I'm a little bored with the original, having maxed out all the characters I like. I'd really like to do something more with Zhang Liao. Fantastic guy... I [heart] him at He Fei.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Some of it is indeed pretty hilarious. I forget the specifics of the story, but didn't Liu Bei actually eat the wife of some farmer? And he was portrayed as the hero.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 It is very interesting to discover what is fact and what is fiction. For example, the three-way fight that went for hours between Zhang Fei, Guan Yu and Lu Bu never actually happend (more evidence the author had a boner for his Shu boys) and it was really Sun Jian who slayed Hua Zhong (forgive the spelling on that one, however I'm sure that's his name. He is the warrior that charges out of the gate at 'The Battle at Si Shui Gate'), not Guan Yu.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 I got regular standard ol Dynasty Warriors 4 how different is Xtreme Legends from them?
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Some of it is indeed pretty hilarious. I forget the specifics of the story, but didn't Liu Bei actually eat the wife of some farmer? And he was portrayed as the hero. Yes, he did, except he did know it at the time. The farmer (hunter?), having no other meat, killed his wife and served her up nicely. He told Liu Bei that it was wolf. Then, the next morning, as Xuande's leaving, he notices a woman's corpse hanging there, with part of her arm missing. He was very touched. But he also threw down his own infant son at Chang Ban, infuriated that he almost lost Zhao Yun for "this suckling". Liu Bei was interesting. I love the stories about Cao Cao... Like when he killed the entire family of his father's sworn brother because he was paranoid about them killing him first. This was, of course, after he failed to assassinate Dong Zhuo, which was another great story.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2004 Historically, Liu Bei was also terrified of his wife, Lady Sun (SSX), who had trained heavily in the martial arts since childhood and had an army of sword-weilding bodyguards surrounding her room at all times. She wore the pants, it seems.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 Historically, Liu Bei was also terrified of his wife, Lady Sun (SSX), who had trained heavily in the martial arts since childhood and had an army of sword-weilding bodyguards surrounding her room at all times. That's so much better than the story. I really hated the whole Dowager Lady Sun thinking Liu Bei was the greatest son-in-law ever, and foiling all the attempts to kill him. I think Liu Bei ended up sending the guy a bunch of gold and stuff too. Just bizarre. And the whole baby-tossing thing was weird too, especially after his wife sacrificed her life for the kid and gave that impassioned speech to Zhao Yun. It was interesting seeing the spinjob the author did on some of Liu Bei's trickier acts, like when he stole the lands of his cousin (nephew?). ROTK reminds me of Arabian Nights at some times. Both can be completely insane, both are worth checking out. This thread has made me play Empires again. I finally made Pang Tong Emperor. "Me? Emperor? Has the world gone crazy?" He's the best hobo mystic emperor ever.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2004 So you've read the entire ROTK book, Parka? I'm on holidays now, so I may just read the rest of it.

Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted December 8, 2004 http://www.chongwanhsing.per.sg/dynastywarriors/index.html UYI Anyone check out the 4 second duel against Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate? I was left quite dumbfounded. Ah, what a thing of glory it was! So, uh, has anyone actually won that duel? I, uh, haven't. But I was, formerly, horrible at duels. I lost Hu Lao Gate 8 seconds in at one point... Damn you Xiahou Dun! Eh, anyway.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2004 That's nothing compared to Empires. If you're wanting to follow history (thus gain access to 'hidden' levels, like Chi Bi) then you need to take down the Dong coalition after they have taken the Han capital. It is so early on in the game that your character isn't exactly prepared, not matter how much you use them early on, to take on Lu Bu. On top of that, the AI has a habit of throwing Diao Chan, Zhang Liao AND Lu Bu at you all at once. It's frustratingly difficult, and I've lost far more times than I've won there. Funnily enough, the only guy I can do it with is Xiahou Dun.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 What would be the Best Free Mode game levels to set up those characters who still running around with 1-3 level Weaponry if you don't want to drag it out during Musos.
Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted December 10, 2004 The Yellow Turban Rebellion is great for levelling your weapon. Do that on hard. Oh, and Battle of Ji Province on easy. I like to clear through all 3 YT battles then do Battle of Ji Province. When you're a little stronger, do the Battle of Jian Ye from Nanman's side. That's one of my two favourite levels, aside from He Fei.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 So is Chi Bi on Liu Bei's side (the easiest). Play that one on hard and obliterate EVERYONE yourself. You should score around 6000 points or so.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2004 Ah, did "Overthrowing Dong Zhuo" in Empires. That is so much harder than DW4, in that you actually have to deal with that respawning psychopath Lu Bu, and you have a 30 min time limit. I actually did beat Lu Bu three times, getting rid of him, but then I only had 48 seconds left to beat Super Dong Zhuo. Blah. The strategy that I finally tried on my third attempt: beat Lu Bu once to make him retreat, then go straight to Dong Zhuo, ignoring everything in the way. I had Dong down to a sliver of health, then, guess who fucking spawns right there: Mr. "Who else seeks death". I stab Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu charge attacks me. Dong dies, game starts to go to end of mission. Lu Bu stabs me a hundred times, kills me. My character somehow gets up for the "Victory" fanfare. I cheered aloud. Guest T®ITEC Report post Posted December 10, 2004 That's tremendous. Absolutely. I don't suppose Lu Bu's little tale of death is portrayed in Empires, is it? That's just one of my favourite stories from the novel... Lu Bu whining like a woman and getting executed. I found it charming.
