edotherocket 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Which year, in your opinion, has been the best year for PC and videogame releases? I was just making up my Christmas wishlist and realised how many games I want to get this year. This year I've already picked up copies of Halo 2, Burnout 3, GTA: San Andreas and Half-Life 2 and I'm hoping over the next few months to also get Pro Evolution Soccer 4, Doom 3, Pirates!, Football Manager 2005 and Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal. The past year (or more accurately, the past four months) have produced some of the best games I can remember. The only other year I can remember having such strong titles was 1996 (Tomb Raider, Super Mario 64) and 1999 (Legend of Zelda, Half-Life). Your thoughts? What year was your favourite as a gamer? Anya 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 1997. Mostly for FF VII, Tekken 3 and GoldenEye. The whole 96-98 era, the middle of the PSX's run, was the best in gaming to me. It had those 97 games, plus RE at it's peak, MKT/4 and MGS.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 1998 was pretty good. Metal Gear Solid & Legend of Zelda: OoT were arguably the two biggest releases of that generation. WCW/NWO Revenge also came out that year, which was a huge step up from World Tour.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Towards the end of the Super NES's run. Mario RPG, Earthbound, Ogre Battle, Chrono Trigger and Lufia II all came out in a relatively short period of time.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2004 I'd probably go with one of the years when the NES had tons of great games released, but look at a few years ago- 2001. The PS2 had been out for a year and was starting to get into a groove. The Game Boy Advance was released with quality games. The Xbox and GameCube came out within days of each other. The Dreamcast was dying, but it still had quality software being released for it. The Nintendo 64 even had some excellent games in the form of Paper Mario and Conker's Bad Fur Day. I have no knowledge of PC games, but I'd say that's pretty impressive as far as the console side of things goes.
