Karnage Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I went to Wal-Mart today and noticed they got a bin of DVDs in cardboard sleeves on sale for $1.37 (Canadian). I don't expect good picture and sound from them even if they say "Digitally Remastered" but has anyone found any good obscure movies from this lot?
razazteca Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I did notice $3.88 bin that had Blade Runner and Dirty Harry movies today.
Guest Shutterspeed Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 That's awesome, especially since it's not like there's a distributor tailoring DVDs for a $1.37 bin.
teke184 Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Damn, and I'd thought I'd gotten a GOOD deal by picking up Blade Runner, Absolute Power, Chris Rock: Bigger And Blacker, Grumpy Old Men, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective from Best Buy for $25... And if anyone asks why I picked up Grumpy Old Men, the repeated quotes such as "Chuck's going to give her a ride on the old baloney pony" coming from old men get a laugh out of me... much like My Fellow Americans gets laughs out of me by having James Garner and Jack Lemmon tell each other to go fuck themselves.
Downhome Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Grumpy Old Men and My Fellow Americans are two perfectly fine movies. I can watch either one of them at any time, and they will always get laughs out of me. There ain't no tellin' how many times I've seen both of them.
Corey_Lazarus Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I wouldn't wonder why you'd pick up Grumpy Old Men. That movie and its sequel are fucking hilarious. I may need to check out these uber discount bins...
Guest Shutterspeed Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 EzyDVD here have an entire rack of DVDs that sell for probably $15.00 and under (halve that and it'll roughly be $US), i.e. Kimba the White Lion Vols. 1 & 2, which are $4.95 each. Despite the fact that most of these discs may have minor packaging deficiencies (like most DVDs these days) and that some are knocked down in price due to a special edition on the horizon, it's a great deal and there are some excellent titles to choose from.
Downhome Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I picked up a few from the $3.88 WalMart bin yesterday and today. It's too bad this was just a deal for BF and not a full time thing. Pay If Forward Space Cowboys American Outlaws Dave Boiler Room Murder at 1600 Critters You've Got Mail The $5.50 bin keeps on getting better though. I've been seeing more and more titles there that I really like. I actually saw two OOP DVDs for $5.50 today. Earth Girls Are Easy 2001: A Space Odyssey
The Mandarin Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I actually saw two OOP DVDs for $5.50 today. 2001: A Space Odyssey Please tell me you bought that.
Downhome Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I actually saw two OOP DVDs for $5.50 today. 2001: A Space Odyssey Please tell me you bought that. But of course. I also bought the other one, just not at WalMart...at DDD.
Chuck Woolery Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 That's awesome, especially since it's not like there's a distributor tailoring DVDs for a $1.37 bin. There is, actually. If you go into a good dollar store (American), they'll probably have a rack of dollar DVDs. There's actually a pretty big line-up, though there's no great movies, and they're put out by a distributor called (irony!) Dollar-DVD. I picked up The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery (Steve McQueen) and One Eyed Jacks (Marlon Brando), so I guess there's some 'treasures' to be had.
