Guest Longdogger_Pete Report post Posted May 7, 2002 "I´ve watched the stars fall silent from your eyes All the sights that I have seen I can´t believe that I believed I wished That you could see There´s a new planet in the solar system There is nothing up my sleeve..." Longdogger Pete, backstage in an SWF locker room, watches a monitor airing a video package. As "The Great Beyond" by R.E.M. plays in the background, the video airs highlights from Pete's long career. The song begins slowly, and so the first few images are of various entrances, coupled with images of Pete holding various title belts in the air. All of the footage is from IGNJL and SWF broadcasts--the SWF couldn't get the rights to any of Pete's AWF footage. "I´m pushing an elephant up the stairs I´m tossing up punchlines that were never there Over my shoulder a piano falls Crashing to the ground..." The video begins to show more and more images of Pete wrestling, and at the line "crashing to the ground," naturally, the video airs a Longdogger Clogger on Mistress Sarah! More power moves are displayed as the tempo picks up. Clogger on Fallout! Musclehead Slam on Xero! More recent highlights include Pete's jawdropping fall off the steel cage in his SWF Hardcore title defense against Mistress Sarah. "I´m breaking through I´m bending spoons I´m keeping flowers in full bloom I´m looking for answers from the great beyond..." The last image, the closing shot, is Longdogger Pete standing on a turnbuckle, proudly displaying the IGNJL World Championship belt. The image fades, to be replaced by the SWF logo and a single word: "Desire." Then the video segment ends entirely. "So what do you think?" asks Matthew Kivell, the SWF official that had delivered the video package to Pete. "If you like it, we can start airing it as early as next week's Storm." "You want to know what I think?" asks Pete, his voice going cold. "I think that I've given my blood, sweat, and tears to this bid'ness for thirteen years, and not one of you people in this crazy league can understand or appreciate that." Kivell blinks twice, obviously puzzled by Pete's negative reaction. "I... I don't understand." Pete glares at Kivell in anger as he continues speaking. "No, you don't understand, and as long as you stay in this job, cozying around the ring in your black and white shirts, you're never going to understand. As long as you don't feel this bid'ness, you'll never understand. In thirteen years, Kivell, I've seen and done it all. I've had hardcore matches, first blood matches, Miami Mayhem matches, and I have gave and gave to this bid'ness. But you know something, Kivell? I'll only be able to deliver for so long. I'm not a green twenty-two-year-old any more, and I'm not as fast as I used to be. Let me tell you something, Kivell. You know that cage match against Sarah that everybody in the fucking league and all the marks on the Internet talk about? That roll off the cage I made to retain the title? I didn't roll off that cage. I was tore up so bad from that match that I lost my balance, and fell off the cage. The match against the Prophet? I used that steel bat before he got started because I knew I wouldn't have stood a chance in the ring with him. And now I lose two title matches to the newest fucking Junior League recruit. If I'd known that this is what my career meant to you people, then maybe I should've gotten out of the bid'ness years ago and saved my body all that wear and tear. You want your Desire video, Kivell? You can take your little Desire video and toss it out the window, because it means nothing to me." Pete turns away from Kivell and exits the locker room, leaving the SWF senior official to stand alone, bewildered, in the locker room.

Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 7, 2002 Sweet little dealie there, Pete. A logical evolution from Pete's more aggressive character from when he came up to the WF to the guy hardened by hardcore time...but we need more good guys! Still, this could leave you as a unique heel with a purpose or really a wicked tweener. Good stuff, any way you slice it.
Guest Longdogger_Pete Report post Posted May 9, 2002 Actually, I'm not sure where I'm going with it just yet. I guess we'll all see what happens.
