Guest Report post Posted May 14, 2002 "Didn't 3 of them go to highschool together and have some suck ass band before they met the DJ dude and the lead singer...I've never heard anything about them being put together by a record label. " now that you mention it, it might have been Sum 41... somebody like that. I mostly listen to punk, I'm not completely up on this stuff.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted May 14, 2002 Actually, you could be completely right...I'm not sure, either.
Guest Report post Posted May 14, 2002 I checked the Linkin Park=boy band thing out, turns out they arent, but there were lots of rumors going around that they were, so thats probably what I heard
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted May 14, 2002 I'll still call Linkin Park a boy-band, based purely on the fact that most girls like them because of their image and that the music is similar to *NSync's at times. The intro to "In The End" had me first going "why is an *NSync song on a rock station like WAAF?", and then the rapper began his act, and I knew it was Linkin Park. **comes out of the closet** I'm a closet Linkin Park fan. Not in the sense that I'll go to a show, wear a t-shirt, and buy a CD...but I liked what I've heard from them, even if it goes against all of the rules of being a metalhead (meaning: Antichrist, Anti-government, Anti-pop, Anti-mainstream). Come over to the dark side. Muahahahaha!!! The story on Linkin Park, from the official site: ORIGINS The band saw its beginnings in emcee/vocalist Mike Shinoda's small bedroom studio, where he and (Brad) Delson recorded the band's first material in 1996. The two had attended high school together, where they met the band's drummer, Rob Bourdon. Shinoda hooked up with DJ Joseph Hahn while studying illustration at Art Center College in Pasadena. Meanwhile, attending UCLA, Delson shared an apartment with bassist Phoenix, who left the band after college and returned a year later. The final piece of the puzzle was singer Chester Bennington, a transplanted Arizona native who started making records when he was 16. I remember hearing somewhere that they brought in Chester to make their stuff more marketable, but I don't know if that's true, and I really don't care. Guest Ripper Report post Posted May 20, 2002 Would make sense seeing as he is the one that makes their music. I like "Linkin Park" to some extent, I just don't like the rap guy, Hahn's mixing seems out of place some times. If it were just Chester and the band with out the raps, I would like them 10 times more.
