Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 everyone is rejecting Norte Dame, Jon Gruden said no, Urban jumped to Florida, Mariucci said no and I'm sure other top names have shook their heads at them. They might have to be humble and sign a lesser name. I'm sure they'll make an offer at Butch Davis.
iggymcfly Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 UCF went 0-12 this year, so I don't think George O' Leary's a very hot commodity right now. I think that Norm Chow would be an absolutely ideal candidate for Notre Dame, if they can lure him away from USC. Notre Dame's not a hot enough job to take away top head coaches anymore, but that doesn't mean that they can't take a top assistant away from a good job to coach the Irish.
Crimson Platypus Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 Meyer said in an interview the other day that ND never contacted him, never offered him a contract, nothing. Wow.
iggymcfly Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 No, what he was saying was that by the time the Irish did contact him, (which is well-documented), he had already made up his mind to go to Florida. Since the contract was all but signed by the time Notre Dame came out, he never really considered them, and just told them that they were too late because he was going to coach Florida instead.
nogoodnick Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 ESPN reports Ron Zook has taken Illinois Job. Also Cal has resigned Tedford for 6 years $1.5 mil per.
