Can i connect a ethernet t-splitter to a router?

I live in a house where we only have a 4 port router

 

roommate uses 2 (xbox, pc), then other uses 1 (pc) and then i use 1 (pc) i want to connect to XBOX live and was wondering if i could connect an ethernet 10 tsplitter to my existing port on the router then split it into the xbox and pc

 

can it happen or do we have to chip in for a 6port?

I think the switch has to be autosensing, I can't remeber the exact details right now.

Buy a hub for like 10 bucks and be done with it.
