Don't ask Meltzer too many questions

Recommended Posts

Guest fanofcoils
The latest update on WO.com says he's had a family emergancy all day, and things will be hectic at the site for a while.

Keep in mind I said Meltzer probably no sold me. Maybe Meltzer is willing to share all his knowledge after all in e-mails, but then again, maybe not.

Man, this makes you sound like a complete douchebag.

How so? Keep in mind some people are willing to share all their knowledge.

Because you sound like a total ingrate. Here's a hint; he doesn't have to tell you shit. You should be happy that he ever answered anything you sent him. He took time out of his day to try to help you and all you do is whine. The fact that you continue to whine after finding out he's got family stuff makes you an ass.

I'm not whining about anything. Please share where you think I "whined" after hearing about his family emergency. I'm not complaining about anything, I said this before on this thread. I'm just stating what happened, not what I feel about it. And where I said maybe Meltzer is willing to share all his knowledge after all in e-mails, but then again, maybe not, I meant after his family situation is resolved and he is over it. Jeez, get a clue.

JUST ASK THE QUESTIONS HERE.

Chances are, we've already heard it from Meltzer's mouth, an old Observer, or we just remember it off the top of our heads.

Just looks at the threads in Old School and General Wrestling for proof.

And there are chances it is from Scott Keith or other not as credible sources (Keller maybe?), no thanks.

How could it hurt to just ask the question?

Chances are, even if it is an obscure question, we'll respond with a "I think Meltzer said" or that "::wrestler X:: said in an old interview".

EDIT:...and Keller is WAY WAY WAY more credible (in terms of sources) than Keith. Just keep bugging Meltzer, I guess. He'll appreciate how you only seek one person for help, and not use the help of knowledgable wrestling fans to get your question answered.

I'm too bothered to look up your posting history, but good show. Good show.

You know I'm watching this piss poor movie Rollerball, and Paul Heyman has a huge cameo in it as an announcer. Quite a good acting job on his part.

There is no point of asking the question if I can get it from Meltzer (if he sells). Here isn't as good overall as Meltzer. Knowledgeable wrestling fans, but not as knowledgeable as him.

Have fun not getting any questions answered after he gets sick of dealing with you.

Simple solution... move in with Meltzer, give him a blowjob every day or two, and ask all the questions you want. At this rate if you asked anything here, everyones gonna ignore just like Meltzer is now.

Assumption or you must really know Meltzer.

It's common sense. He's not there to answer people's questions. He would most likely never get anything accomplished if all he did was sit there and answer questions. He's there to sell newsletters and make sure his customers happy. The fact that he stops to answer even one of your questions speaks volumes about how nice a guy he is.

And I know how he feels. I wrote a column about 5 years ago and people would send in writings for me to critique. And it pissed me off each and every time someone like you came along and thought I was obligated to do it.

Its common sense people may or may not want to reply to a lot of questions seeking their knowledge. Maybe you don't like it though. I never said Meltzer is obligated to do it, it is his choice. How are you to say he is not there to answer people's questions? He can do what he wants, not everyone is the same and thinks like you.

He is free to do what he wants, that is why he isn't answering you. You however, are only free to bitch if the moderators allow you to. Common sense / logic would dictate not to bring it up unless he goes a long time without answering. Even then I cannot come up with a question or set of questions that would be bitch-worthy on this web forum.

Maybe if you were saying he was factually wrong about something and wanting him to correct his mistake. He does run a business and business side of things should stay as legal and legit as possible. Still though, you've yet to even hint as to what you were sending him.

Also, this is a nice way of saying fuck off.

He has been answering me. I said he probably stopped answering me in regards to my last e-mail but he had a family emergency. How can you say he is free to do what he wants, which is the reason he isn't answering me? He went over a day without answering it, which isn't the norm for him, which is why I made this topic of the probable no selling of my e-mail by Meltzer. I have hinted of what I was sending him, I said the same types of questions that people ask in this forum.

Thread title: Don't ask Meltzer too many questions

Subtitle: He can't take it.

For the past week I've been asking Meltzer about a question a day in e-mail to him. Apparently that is too much for him because I haven't gotten a quick reply to my last e-mail, and it has been over a day since I sent it to him. He probably checked his e-mail by now but has no sold me. This is just to let you know, Meltzer will likely eventually no sell you if you ask him questions on a regular basis.

He can't take it, just because I said it doesn't mean I meant it as a fact, I meant it as an assumption.

If you haven't worked out this guy is PRIME yet...

So don't bother arguing with him. Same roundabout way of talking and everything.

This is most outlandish bitching I have ever seen. Meltz has no obligation to answer your questions, it doesn't say on his site *I ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS!*. Occasionally, he'll answer a question if he wants to. It's up to his discretion.

The questions you wanted answered likely could have been answered already and in a quicker fashion had you asked here but you continue to have this "Meltz only knows" mentality when LOSS and others here know almost at the same level that he does save for the deepest internal issues and if that's the level your seeking; meltzer isn't giving some punk annoying bitch like you the time of the day or the statisfaction of knowing internal info that isn't already available.

Meltzer has no obligation to answer my questions? I already mentioned this and said I understood it. Loss and others, they aren't credible to me, Meltzer is, I'll take Meltzer as my #1 source. This is sad, I already mentioned this too on this thread.

Why bother man..... it's PRIME obviously. Look at the roundabout arguments. All that's missing is 32 is Prime, Benoit is past his prime.

Meltzer is credible, yes.

Still, his archived material is readily available to the IWC - if you're asking something about the WWF circa '91, it's a certainty that we have all of his thoughts on the character or angle in question. Same with NWA in '89 or WWE in 2003.

As stated before, Meltzer has many other responsibilities than answering email. He has a newsletter to compile and write, he has contacts within the wrestling world, he has a site to maintain, and he is essentially running a business. He cannot possibly answer every email.

Meltzer's a nice source, but A) he is not your personal answerman, and B) you shouldn't rely on a single source, no matter how reliable he may be. If you have a question, do your own research. Google a messageboard and see if it has been asked before. Check other boards and see if they agree with each other. Double-check sources, and draw your own conclusions. You should find your answers. And if you really are stumped, THEN you email Meltzer who whoever. But emailing him for everything just smacks of laziness. Whenever I have a baseball question, I don't go running to Bill James. I check it myself.

I have no way of knowing people on here know as much as Meltzer, they can only say they do. They can be missing some things. I rather rely on the top source for my questions.

He can answer e-mails in his free time if he wishes to. Pretty much everything Meltzer reports is fact, which is why I go by what he says. The problem is that there are no other credible wrestling sources online for all this general information.

There are plenty of credible sources. You just need to learn how to double-check and verify things. Tell you what. Post a sample question, and I'll show you how it works.

Name the credible sources please. It is pretty established that 1wrestling.com and pwtorch.com are not credible for example. And the new site, pwinsider.com doesn't have any credibility to it.

If I have a Dusty Rhodes or Honky Tonk Man question for example, I can check out their official websites, but not all my questions I can look up on a reliable site. When I mentioned there are no credible sites other than wrestlingobserver.com, I meant for general information, for specific information like about certain wrestlers, there can be credible sites (their official websites). Meltzer is my #1 source for general information. I have checked out most of the official wrestler websites.

No, 1Wrestling, Torch and Insider have sources -- it's just that they attempt to outclass Meltzer by turning rumors into fact.

This topic should be closed. I think he's just embarrassed to throw out a question that's been answered by Meltzer a dozen times (and is now common knowledge to the IWC), since he won't even throw out a sample question.

There aren't just official websites, or "insider" websites. You can look up Brandon Truitt's shoot interviews for example. What did wrestler A say about an incident? Does it agree with what wrestlers B or C said? That kind of thing.
