CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 How about the Hogan/Orndorff SNME cage match in December of 1986? This was one of the two big blowoffs for the Hogan-Orndorff feud that had been running since the summer of 1986, the other being at the Big Event in Toronto. Right after Piper and Orndorff lost to Hogan and Mr. T at WrestleMania, Piper had Orndorff on as a guest on Piper's Pit, blamed him for the loss, and attacked him along with Bob Orton. Hogan and T made the save, turning Orndorff face. Orndorff was positioned in the midcard, feuding with Hogan's enemies. After WrestleMania 2, Orndorff and Hogan started tagging together, but Orndorff was growing increasingly jealous of what he perceived was Hogan always grabbing the spotlight. It was sparked by an appearance on Adrian Adonis' Flower Shop, where Adonis accused him of being in Hogan's shadow, and Hogan was too busy to answer a phone call made by Orndorff to refute it. They had a match against the Moondogs the following week on Superstars, with Orndorff doing all the work in his team's victory, and Hogan oblivious to what was going on. The following week, again on Superstars, it was Hogan and Orndorff against Studd and Bundy. Orndorff, trying to showboat, tried to slam Studd and was unsuccessful. In came Hogan, who slammed Studd with ease. Orndorff spent the rest of the match pouting in the corner, and when Orndorff finally made the save for Hogan later in the match, he helped him to his feet...and then viciously clotheslined him to the mat, then piledrove him. Orndorff would be celebrated in the locker room after the match by the Heenan Family, and the feud was on. How about Hogan vs. Savage in February of 1990 with Buster Douglas as ref? It was supposed to be Tyson as special guest ref, but they switched to Douglas when he knocked Tyson out just a week or so prior to the match. The match had no significant feud, other than the long-established Savage-Hogan feud that had been running for the past year; it was just meant to give Hogan a big match on their prime-time NBC card. Steamboat: "Hee! Hee!" (begins weeping) Bad doesn't begin to describe them. Shame, since Steamboat's selling of the neck on the night of the "injury" was amongst the best sell jobs I'd ever seen. -=Mike
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Cheers for the answers... Can someone go over the major Savage/Flair matches and the feuds going into those? -Wrestlemania 8 (I know the general idea with Flair saying he slept with Elizabeth and making fake magazine pictures or whatever...can somone go a little more in depth?) -Summer 1995, WCW (Didn't Flair put Savage's dad in the figure four?) -Superbrawl 6 cage match (Elizabeth turns on Savage...what led to this match?) CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Can someone go over the major Savage/Flair matches and the feuds going into those? WMVIII - The match was made before they tacked the angle on. Flair was originally supposed to face Hogan at Mania, but he was "retiring" afterward, so they decided to go with Savage in the title match. The angle was that Flair published doctored photos of Liz and himself in WWF Magazine (the ones I remember were the poolside and stable shots), while promising a big centerfold to come down from the rafters at Mania. This, of course, drove Savage nuts. It was later revealed that the photos were all of Savage and Liz, and Flair just Photoshopped himself in place of Savage. BatB 95 - Yes, Flair did beat down Angelo Poffo, Savage's dad, after a tag match between Flair/Vader and the Megapowers at Slamboree. SuperBrawl VI - The culmination of a short WCW title feud, started when Savage lost the title to Flair at Starrcade 95, and they swapped the title again between Starrcade and SuperBrawl. No real issue of note besides the title and the fact that these guys hated each other.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 21, 2005 I vaguely remember Steamboat trying ti cut a promo on Savage but his throat was too fucked up. I was a very little boy and remember thinking that the acting was bad.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Savage had Woman and Liz. Woman turns on Savage during World Title match w/ Benoit (Savage by DQ). Horsemen attack Savage. Flair wants belt. Savage wants Flair dead. Savage brings his true love oh so happy Miss Elizabeth who will never turn on him to SB 6. She turns, Flair wins title. We mark out. WCW pans away from cage due to Flair blading.
