This weeks Bank Shot

Turning Point is in the books - and Final Resolution is just around the corner on January 16!

Welcome to another dose of TNA news and views with the Bank Shot! After one of the busiest - and successful - weeks in our promotion's two-year history thanks to Turning Point, many of the TNA staff and superstars are proud that the online reaction to Sunday's Pay-Per-View has been so overwhelmingly positive. One wrestling writer even described it as "one of the greatest wrestling shows in PPV history". After watching Turning Point back the next day, I've got to say I agree that it was a grand slam from everyone involved.

Turning Point had many memorable moments and was packed with some great action. The crowd at Universal Studios kept the superstars pumped the entire night, which made for some great matches. I especially enjoyed Williams vs. Sabin, and the AMW vs. Triple X Six Sides of Steel will go down - in my opinion - as the greatest cage match in wrestling history. The action, the emotion, the high-risk....it had everything a wrestling fan could ask for. When Primetime walked the top of the cage, I jumped out of my chair and nearly knocked out referees Andrew Thomas and Mike Posey in the process. I can honestly say I haven't reacted to something like that in a long time. The backstage area was packed with TNA staff and superstars huddled together, staring up at the big screens watching the match in awe. When both teams made it to the back, they were greeted with a standing ovation from the entire locker room. It was truly "one of those moments" you talk about for years to come.

Following the bloody bout, cameras were on hand to film all four superstars being attended to by medical personnel, the footage of which will hopefully be included as a bonus on the Turning Point DVD in a few months. After what we all had just witnessed, one particular moment brought everything into perspective. Covered in blood and being stitched up, Christopher Daniels called out for someone to call his wife to tell her he was okay. Moments later, AJ Styles put a cell phone to Daniels' bloody ear as the superstar reassured his family he was fine.

Both America's Most Wanted and Triple X deserve all the praise they've received in the days since the epic match. After Skipper’s injury during the Last Team Standing bout, Primetime and Daniels were hellbent on delivering in a big way at Turning Point. On Tuesday prior to the Impact tapings, Primetime spent most of the day taking congratulations and talking about the moment. He later said in an interview he had been thinking about the move for months and wanted to do something no one could pull off. I think it's an understatement that he accomplished that - and thankfully - something he will never attempt again.

Abyss was also hurting after his Serengeti Survival Match, and required immediate medical attention to remove several thumbtacks from his skull. Despite losing to the Alpha Male, the monster Abyss has continued to show in recent months why he is one of the most dominating and talented superstars in wrestling.

This weekend will bring some much-needed rest for TNA staff and superstars, but it will be engines full throttle again on Monday as we prepare for Final Resolution on January 16. In addition to Jeff Jarrett defending his NWA World Heavyweight Title, several other matches will be released in the coming weeks on Impact. If rumors I've heard about the card are true, it could be an all-star lineup featuring some tremendous bouts.

Let's get onto the other news from TNA this week....

Next week, TNAwrestling.com will feature our "Year End Voting" categories, with fans able to vote for winners on the website. Many of the same categories from 2003 will return (Match of the Year, Mr. TNA, Finisher of the Year, etc), along with some new categories. Once the voting is completed around Christmas, we'll be taping award presentations with the winners for television.

On the DVD front, the new Best Of 3Live Kru will be up for order on the website next week. The DVD will feature 15 3LK matches, a ton of skits, interviews and much more. After reviewing the footage, one of my favorite moments has to be one of 3LK’s first skits where BG James impersonated Don West. I had never seen it before and nearly crapped myself laughing while watching it.

After the 3Live Kru DVD, we're beginning work on "Nevermore: The Best of Raven" DVD, which right now stands at 18 matches and includes comments from Raven, highlight videos and much more.

That should be completed by the start of January, with the Victory Road DVD shortly thereafter.Yours truly shot a ton of Victory Road backstage which will be included on the DVD. From Kazarian pacing backstage just moments prior to kicking off the show to Jeff Hardy painting up for the World Title ladder match, the camera documented some fascinating behind-the-scenes stories during the show. It's going to be a really cool addition to the DVD in my opinion.

During the next Impact tapings at Orlando on December 21, TNA referee and website contributor Andrew Thomas will be conducting and interview with Hector Garza for the website. In my opinion, Garza has become a breakout star since his TNA return and is already a huge fan favorite. He's got that "it" that fans connect with, which is amazing considering we know so little about him. Hopefully, the interview will give fans the opportunity to learn about his background, thoughts on TNA and his recent success.

The special Night of Appreciation show for Sabu is taking place this Sunday night in Detroit, featuring some of the biggest names in wrestling from various organizations competing in one ring. The support for the event from the online wrestling world has been tremendous and we hope to have photos from it up on the website.

Apparel company Liquid Blue recently released a line of TNA t-shirts featuring Raven, The Alpha Male, Abyss and others. Several of the superstars have worn them on Impact, including Raven, and we've received a ton of email asking about them. I've gotten word that the Liquid Blue line will be available for purchase on the ShopTNA.com site in the next few weeks, as we expect to take full stock at our offices in the days to come.

OTHER RANDOM TNA NEWS AND NOTES:

- Late-night poker games continue to be the new popular pastime in TNA, as several superstars, office and production staff have told tall tales of their winnings in recent weeks. According to reports, one game even featured Glenn Gilberti cleaning house on Christopher Daniels' mom. Yes, you read that right. Glenn took great pride in taking money from The Fallen Angel's loving mother.

- The Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy played a good joke on several TNA staffers last week. Backstage at Universal Studios, we often use our cell phones to locate particular wrestlers or staff during the day, being it's a huge sprawling set. Enter Jeff Hardy, who often finds a private nook to listen to his music while passing the time. So that day, he decides to record a generic conversation as his voicemail - leaving many staffers thinking they were talking to Hardy when in fact they were having a friendly chat with his voicemail the entire time. Let's just say that Hardy's sense of humor is somewhat warped at times.

- Former WCW wrestler and backstage agent Mike Graham visited Impact this week. Graham lives in Florida and visited many of his friends that are now involved with the TNA promotion.

- Following the Tuesday Impact tapings, I got a chance to relax at a local restaurant with Don West and Mike Tenay. The voices of TNA always have some great stories, and are almost inseparable as friends on the road now. After Sunday’s event, I was amazed Tenay still had his voice, as he and Don called the event with more emotion than I’ve ever heard from a broadcast team. For some odd reason, Don’s voice never goes out on him. Seriously. A doctor even told him so. His voice box is made of steel or something. Actually, it’s some kind of voice box ability, but I’d sound like a tool trying to explain the medical jargon.

- Milk and Cookies anyone? Traci has updated her online TNA Knockouts diary, mostly concerning her Turning Point experience. In case you didn’t notice, the Knockouts Area was recently updated with new sexy shots of Traci and Trinity. CLICK HERE TO CHECK THEM OUT.

- After the recent success of Victory Road and Turning Point, TNA has been receiving phone calls for our superstars to appear on several television and radio programs. A lot of people in the entertainment and media industry have taken notice of TNA, and there's several major announcements coming on the horizon heading into 2005.

That's it for this week - enjoy Friday's Impact featuring NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett taking on Hector Garza!

I thought the info on the DVD's would be welcome news.
