Jericho & hhh

Unless we get a miracle carry job from Jericho this match will suck.  HHH was a good psychological worker in early 2000.  That is the only time he has been even close to good in his career.  His execution of moves besides his knee related offense and a pedigree is awful.  The fact that he is bigger now makes him slower and affects his bumping and selling.  Jericho carried him at wresltemania and carried him on Smackdown a couple of weeks ago.  Also Jericho actually got a somewhat watchable match out of Hogan,  something HHH didn't even come close to doing.

Totally agree.  Between HHH's injury and his mass, he's really lost a lot in the ring.  Good luck Chris.

Wouldn't the logical move for this match be Jericho going over?  I sure hope so.

Logic?  McMahons?

I love how people pull out the word "logic" when they probably have no idea how prepositional logic actually functions.

i'm very excited.  this could very well be the match that kicks triple h into high gear & makes everyone a believer again.  it could also be the match that REALLY kicks jericho into high gear & makes him into a top-tier worker.

however, i think the fed is really going about the build-up of it the wrong way.  they're putting it on the card to offset the shittiness of hogan/taker, which takes away a lot of the specialness of HIAC (although armageddon did that too).  if they wanted trips/jericho to climax in HIAC, they should've done months of intense buildup & made it look like these 2 really wanted to kill each other.  there is a sense of hatred with trips & jericho, but it isn't HIAC-level hatred.  what they should do is give trips a reason to chase after jericho all through the summer & do the match at fully loaded or summerslam.

I whole-heartedly agree with godthedog on this thrown together match.  I really have little doubt that this will be an excellent match because I personally like HHH. Jericho can deliver even with Hogan, and HHH works well with him especially with no Stephanie.

The problem is Taker/Hogan will look undoubtedly worse.  Remember No Way Out 2001?  Austin/HHH tore the house down, and even though Angle/Rock was a nice little match, it really looked like shit to HHH/Austin.

Well Taker/Hogan is going to be shit already, and when Jericho/HHH steal the show not too long before, Hogan/Taker will look that much worse.  It looks like Vince is booking himself into the corner once again.

Hopefully the HIAC makes the Hogan/Taker match look so bad that it goes to funny.  At this point the main event looks like crap but just really awful crap not so bad its funny crap.  If the HIAC tears the house down hearing no reaction, seeing crappy moves, and watching those two try to move at all could be pretty humorous.

I'm optimistically hoping that if HHH really does have booking power, he'll get this booked to be the main event and run Hogan vs. Taker in the midcard as they did at Survivor Series 91.

I could see them coming up with some excuse to have the HITC match last. Especially since Triple H will most likely win and it appears that Taker will be taking the belt from Hogan. The WWF likes to send fans home happy for the most part.

I don't see this match having "the big bump" that everyone expects out of a HITC match. Triple H certainly isn't going to take any risks that could put him back out of action. I also don't see Jericho agreeing to take any high risks that could put him on the shelf for a long time. His contract expires in a little over a month and there's been no official word that he's signed a new one yet.

The Trip/Foley match was special because Foley envisioned the match as his retirement match and he wanted to go out with a bang and make sure Triple H's status as a main eventer was cemented.

I'd like to see Jericho/Triple H take the match into a different direction. Use the cage to have an especially brutal and violent match without resorting to huge bumps to pop the crowd. (I resisted the urge to use the word "intense.") If the match is done right, it COULD benefit both guys careers greatly.

But if the match is just a backdrop for Vince to put himself over and do yet ANOTHER evil heel owner vs. top babyface angle, forget it.

*envisions some of the match*

if we don't want an announcers table spot, they possibly go through the cage, but perhaps only something making it break...bolt cutters.  Simple, somehow, Jericho can get his hands on some cutters, and throw them to the top of the cage before the match.  Then when they get going, they can climb.  As they get to the top, Jericho can nail HHH with the cutters, leaving Trips sprawled out on the cage, rivulets of blood running down his face.

For a nice added visual, have HHH make some blood fall in droplets into the ring!  Imagine how cool it would look if a cameraman could capture the pitter-patter of the blood.  With HHH down, Jericho can quickly cut out the center portion of the cage and try something.  Perhaps they could have Jericho go for a powerbomb into the hole, only to have Triple H back-body drop him down.

Well, Jericho was in TLC3.  Anywho, the only reason I thought this little spot up was because of the coolness of blood falling into the ring around Hebner, who would dart away from it.

I'm putting my Bid in the pool now for "4 run ins" during this match.

I hope not... I hate run-ins in cage matches, it's so lame and takes away the whole point of a cage match.  That was the only bad thing about HBK/Taker HIAC, was the stupid Kane run-in for the finish... or am I thinking of a different Taker cage match?

No you are thinking about the right match, but I disagree about the finish. I think the finish worked perfectly with the storyline and psychology of the match. Had Taker won the match clean, it would have been a glorified squash. Had Michaels won clean, it would have been a retarded upset given the beating he had taken. The Kane ending established an important storyline, and gave the match a finish that made sense: Shawn beat Taker, but only because Kane gave the Taker a tombstone.

Touche, but it just kinda shatters the illusion further for me when some guy "rips the steel cage door off" to do interference.

Kane was billed as a monster, he looked like a monster...however do you think he should act otherwise? Ripping the steel door off made him look unstoppable, and it sure as hell scared the heck outta me, to see a guy that freaky lookin'...

Kane is cool...but the Undertaker HE AIN'T

Well as far as I can tell... Jericho absolutely HAS to win. If not, the he has to look like he's going to win, and would have, if HHH and Stephanie hadn't reconciled their differences or whatever other lame run-in excuse they need.

If Jericho doesn't win, he may has well pack up and leave or go back to saying "Would you puh-lease shut the hell up" to other novelty guys like Regal and Rikishi.

Also, who ever suggested a middle of the show title match with this as the closer was dead-on. Hogan nearly always wrestled the Main Event back in the day, and it was almost always a middle-of-the-show title match.

And for everyone that thinks this match will suck, need I remind you of the coolness that was Walls of Jericho on top of a ladder at the 2001 Royal Rumble? I was one of those that though "Benoit and Jericho - ladder match?! WTF?!"

With HHH's ability to look out for himself backstage, I don't think they'd have a HIAC unless he thought he could pull off a good one.

I agree, and why don't they give the match a little creditability..such as a No.1 Contendership Match or something? It would definitly give it an added edge.

you want a bump?

here's one...top of the cage, triple hhh has jericho in a pedigree position, goes to hit the pedigree from the top of the cage to the mat below *owwww* but jericho flips up n over triple hhh...landing and rolling while triple hhh takes a huge back bump

jericho straps on the walls onto an unconscious triple hhh, and jericho gets cred back and a stronger finisher
