PWG Presents "Card Subject To Change!" on January 22, 2005!

By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer

Bumblebee, California - Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) "Uncanny X-Mas" saw many exciting developments for fans and wrestlers alike, from the reinstatement of the Ballard Brothers to the crowning of the Number 1 Contender for the PWG Championship. On top of that, Comissioner Paul T., who had to leave the event early for a press surfing engagement the next morning, was shocked to hear about the melee between the Havana Pitbulls and Aerial Express (AXP.) Further shocking Paul T. was that the Number 1 Contender to the PWG Championship, Samoa Joe, would be unavailable on January 22, and unable to face Super Dragon at "Card Subject To Change!" Therefore, Paul T. is leaving it up to you, the fans, to decide who will face Super Dragon for the title!

By visiting www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com, fans can vote for their favorite challenger from a list of five competitors decided by Paul T! The challengers for the title are American Dragon, B-Boy, "Classic" Colt Cabana, Chris Hero, and Homicide! All five men will be in the building on January 22, and are chomping at the bit for a chance to face Super Dragon, with the PWG Championship making the deal so much sweeter! Voting ends one week from today (January 5,) so go to prowrestlingguerrilla.com right now and vote for your favorite! Well, not just yet, there's more news, but after that!

As mentioned earlier, the Havana Pitbulls and AXP have some unresolved issues left from "Uncanny X-Mas," since the Pitbulls believe they were cost the PWG Tag Team Championship, and the AXP believe they are rightfully the Number 1 Contenders! So in order to solve the dispute between these two highly talented teams, Paul T. is making the meeting between the Havana Pitbulls & Aerial Express a Number 1 Contenders match for the Tag Team Titles! However, this leaves a void in PWG Tag Team division, so Paul T. is allowing any tag team to step forward and face the PWG Tag Team Champions, Chris Bosh & Scott Lost!

At this point, we were originally going to include a joke about "Stone Cold" Steve Austin facing off with Goldberg at PWG's "Card Subject To Change!" on January 22, but we figured too many people would take it seriously and we may get in some trouble. So just close your eyes, imagine that's what this part is about, have a chuckle, and then proceed.

"Card Subject To Change!" takes place on January 22, 2005 at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC, and will feature:

Number 1 Contenders Match

Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero) vs. Aerial Express (Quicksilver & Scorpio Sky)

PWG Championship Match

Super Dragon © vs. x

PWG Tag Team Championship Match

Arrogance (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) © vs. x

A full line up will be announced after the Fan Poll on prowrestlingguerrilla.com ends, but until then, American Dragon, B-Boy, Colt Cabana, Chris Hero, Homicide, Top Gun Talwar, Tony Stradlin, Excalibur, and Human Tornado will also be appearing! Plus, the PWG return of Shane & Shannon, The Ballard Brothers!

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Card Subject To Change!" takes place the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 7:00PM. The Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC is located at 1110 Bates Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90029. Tickets are only $15 each, and will be available at the door. For more information, please visit http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or email [email protected]

To vote go here: http://prowrestlingguerrilla.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=46 I think you have to sign up for the board to vote.

Saw Hero vs. Super Dragon in CZW...so the matches I want to see here would be vs. Homicide and vs. Danielson. I guess I'll vote for Amdrag, and let B-Boy and Homicide team up for the tag titles.

What happened to Silverback's funny button? The old-style hilarious press releases were one of the main reasons PWG was getting such a unique buzz about it and now that's vanished.

Here's something I wrote about the wrestlers up for the title on the PWG board:

First off I think it's really great PWG is having the fans choose who is going to face Super Dragon at "Card Subject To Change". The list of names have all faced off against Super Dragon in the ring before, but only one hasn't faced SD one on one. One hasn't faced him one on one since 2002 One hasn't faced him one on one since Bad Ass Mother 3000. One hasn't faced him since September in a different promotion, and one has faced Super Dragon four times in 2004. All 5 guys nominated to face Super Dragon each bring something unique to the table.

B-Boy: The last time these two wrestled one on one was at IWA-MS's Revolution Strong Style tournament and a few months earlier at JCW's Jersey JCup event. They both split wins in singles compition but in Tag Team action B-Boy has the edge over Dragon and Dragon has the edge on B-Boy as he won a fatal four way in September against B-Boy, Excalibur, and Bobby Quance. Interestingly enough they even teamed in October in PWG but lost(due to Joey Ryan getting involved in the match). Super Dragon and B-Boy know each other so well that another match between them would be fantastic but at the same time many fans wouldn't want to see it because they faced eachother plenty of times already. In my mind this would add to the rivalry Dragon and B-Boy have since it's for the PWG World Heavyweight Title and I feel it could make these two bring out the best in themselves for this match.

"Classic" Colt Cabana: The last time Super Dragon and Colt Cabana wrestled in a ring together they where a team in December at "Pimpin IN High Places" with Adam Pearce and took on Joey Ryan, CM Punk, and Frankie Kazarian. The last time they faced eachother one on one was at Bad Ass Mother 3000 where Dragon defeated Colt in the 2nd round of the tournament. A match between Cabana and Dragon would be really fun if the fans voted Cabana to face off against Dragon.

Chris Hero: At "The Next Show" Dragon and Hero went one on one in a hard hitting contest that saw Dragon come up with the victory. One week later Super Dragon and Chris Hero faced off again at CZW's "High Stakes 2" PPV taping for the CZW Iron Man championship only this time Chris Hero got the win over Dragon. A Dragon/Hero III match for the PWG Heavyweight Championship would be a fantastic way to break the tie and to see who is the better man, but in my opinion it's a little too soon for that.

And this leads me to the two most popular choices of the polls so far:

American Dragon: American Dragon and Super Dragon faced off in June of 2002 at EPIC's "International Collision" show and many fans thought it was one of the best matches of 2002. Dragon and Dragon didn't come close to eachother inside the ring until January of this year at the Tango and Cash tournament as a team. They worked well with eachother so much and made it to the finals, where ironicly enough, it came down to Super Dragon, Homicide, American Dragon, and B-Boy in the finals where Homicide and B-Boy got the win over the Dragons and won the titles. What's even more ironic is that Homicide is beating American Dragon in the polls which feels like a deja vu type deal. I feel a Dragon/Dragon rematch would be better with more build, but as Scrub said it doesn't need any build since this is a match that many fans wanted to see what happen again since both men have evolved so much over the last 2 and a half years. So American Dragon is a very strong contender in this.

Homicide: Homicide right now is in the lead with a strong following but the American Dragon fans are not going down without a fight. Homicide and Super Dragon have only faced off once inside a ring and as mentioned before Homicide technicly holds a victory over Super Dragon. Homicide is known on the east coast as the equal to Super Dragon in terms of styles and stiffness and many fans want this match to take place as they see it as a dream match. But people have said Homicide hasn't done much in a PWG ring. One of the reasons I've seen from east coasters was that injurys have been catching up with Cide at the time. He's had some classic matches this year in IWA-MS, CZW, ROH and countless other promotions so who's to say he only holds back in PWG? Maybe injurys where a legit reason as to why he didn't "go all out" in his west coast appearences. Maybe this is the match that would have Cide break out of his shell on the west coast and go all out. Dragon seems to have the ability to do those things with workers fans of PWG don't enjoy much. CM Punk is an example. Many fans felt his preformence with Steve Corino was one of the weakest matches in PWG's history. The next month at PWG the fans where completely Pro-SD and the two men had a fantastic match up which many says was Punk's best preformence in PWG. If Dragon faced Homicide it could be the same scenerio all over again.

In my mind, it's hard to pick one person to face Dragon. I personally chose Homicide based on the fact Dragon/Cide never took place one on one while others choose American Dragon because of Cide's PWG track record. But no matter who wins PWG's fans will be the real winners. We have 5 possible MOTYCs for the PWG Title on our hands and and possible matches of the others who don't win the poll. We could see some awesome matches like:

American Dragon vs. Chris Hero

American Dragon vs. Homicide

American Dragon vs. B-Boy

American Dragon vs. Colt Cabana

Colt Cabana vs. Chris Hero

Colt Cabana vs. Homicide

Colt Cabana vs. B-Boy

Colt Cabana vs. American Dragon

B-Boy vs. Chris Hero

B-Boy vs. Homicide

B-Boy vs. Colt Cabana

B-Boy vs. American Dragon

Homicide vs. Chris Hero

There are so many possibiltys on what could happen at "Card Subject To Change" but no matter what the fans that night will go home happy.

Has B-Boy vs. Danielson ever happened? I think that match would rule. I'd also like to see Homicide vs. Super Dragon for the title...

Homicide Challenges Super Dragon, Plus More on January 22!

By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer

Peaceful Pines, California - Earlier this week, thanks to the popular and electoral vote, Homicide was nominated to challenge Super Dragon for the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) Championship at "Card Subject To Change" on January 22! Assuming all goes as planned at Homicide's Challengerial Inauguration on January 20, he will become the first Championship Challenger elected by fan vote in PWG History! Homicide must be confident that he will be leaving "Card Subject To Change" as PWG Champion, because fans have already received invitations to the celebratory banquet planned for after the show.Despite all of the hoopla around the title match, there are plenty of other reasons to be excited about "Card Subject To Change," beginning with the fate of the Tag Team Titles!

PWG Commissioner Paul T. has received quite a few requests from various teams to challenge Arrogance (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) for the PWG Tag Team Championship, from the obvious (The Ballard Brothers) to the absurd ("Scott Bosh & Chris Lost".) However, the Commish is keeping his decision a secret right up to show time, so it'll as much of a surprise to fans at ringside as it will be to Chris Bosh and Scott Lost! However, it will be no surprise who challenges for the tag titles next month, because the battle between Aerial Express and the Havana Pitbulls at "Card Subject To Change" is a Number One Contenders Match!

If that's not enough to pique your interest, because Homicide won the fan vote, that left 4 other wrestlers without matches, and two of the title contenders will go head to head in what can only be described as a dream match! For the first time ever on the West Coast, American Dragon will take on Chris Hero in what fans are already predicting will be a "technical masterpiece." However, fans will be in for a surprise, because Chris Hero will battle American Dragon in a Barb Wire Exploding Cage With Circus Elephants Firing Rocket Launchers Death Match! This match will be a first for PWG, and professional wrestling in general! Fans are advised to refer to the show's title, because all matches may not occur as stated.

Plus, after helping to reinstate the Ballard Brothers last month, Human Tornado looks to be moving up the PWG ladder as he faces off with "The New Age Punisher" B-Boy! "Card Subject To Change" takes places on Saturday, January 22, 2005 as 7:00PM, and will feature:

PWG Championship Match

Super Dragon © vs. Homicide

PWG Tag Team Championship Match

Scott Lost & Chris Bosh © vs. X

Number One Contenders Match

Scorpio Sky & Quicksilver vs. Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero

Barb Wire Exploding Cage With Circus Elephants Firing Rocket Launchers Death Match

American Dragon vs. Chris Hero

B-Boy vs. Human Tornado

Plus "Classic" Colt Cabana, Excalibur, Top Gun Talwar, Tony Stradlin, and the PWG return of The Ballard Brothers!

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Card Subject To Change!" takes place the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 7:00PM. Damn, I was hoping for Danielson vs Super Dragon.

Oh well, because now we get Danielson vs Hero. I loved their IWA:MS match and hopefully they can build off of that for this and make it even better.

Who does everyone think shalt be the surprise tag team? I'm thinking Zokre and Phoenix Star. That would be neat.

I really hope it is Los Luchas. Their return at AWS on Saturday was great and they looked really good in the ring despite being out for awhile.

Also the show's main event is going to be Kaos vs. Dynamite D, plus King Faviano vs. Angel. Also in action will be Lil'Cholo, Charles Mercury, the SoCal RETURN OF Dante, and much more!

Not to mention, the one & only KRIS KLOSS will be providing LIVE color commentary, at the show!!!!!

Thanks for that, and I feel bad for HPW since they'll probably draw 40 people going against PWG.

Hey man, it's not HPW's fault that they are running against PWG!! HPW booked that date way before PWG ever did, around early-October to exact!

But what can I say, I guess you can't make everyone happy!!!!

PWG books their events way ahead of time. I remember hearing about the date in September. Next time HPW should do their homework.

Here's a review I wrote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A great overall show. The crowd had to be around 200+ since people where looking for chairs and some where standing. It was a great site. Jorge walked around ringside throwing out peanuts to the fans and got a loud "Thank You Jorge" chant. Disco Machine comes out to open up things and says he's Jr. Vice President since Paul T isn't around and says that there are a lot of friends in the lockerroom but he's going to try and keep things fair.

-Ballards and Ronin vs. Excalibur, Supa Bad, and Topgun Talwar

Excal, Topgun, and Supa Bad came out to a huge ovation and where really over. The match had some real cool spots. Supa Bad doing his normal fitness stuff, Topgun proclaiming his love for Chipotle, and Ronin destroying people left and right. One spot that sticks out in my mind was when Supa Bad had Ronin in an abdonimal strech, Excalibur was holding on for the extra leverage and then falls to the floor. Funny stuff. Another fun opener from PWG. After the match Excalibur was mad at Topgun for accidently hitting him with a clothesline. Disco made the save and Excalibur pushed him and realized what he did wrong but Disco decided to suspend him for the next show and threatend to take his pay. Excalibur said when Paul T gets back things will be straightend out.

-Colt Cabana vs. Tony Stradlin

I didn't really think Cabana was going to wrestle with the reports of a neck injury but I didn't really see that come into play. Cabana did seem to hurt his knee but he used that really well and laced in some comedy. I really enjoyed this match and enjoy watching Stradlin wrestle so much. Colt doing some Nigel McGuiness spots was pretty funny. Stradlin picks up the win against another big name indy star for the second time in a row. Great stuff. Something else that was great but not mentioned was Cabana trying to get a digital camera to work and had the sound guy stop the music in the middle of his entrance so he could figure out how it worked.

-The Human Tornado vs. B-Boy

The crowd was really split in who they wanted to see win this match. It was like a classic Underdog story where B-Boy would keep dishing out punishment and Tornado would keep coming back for more. This had a lot of sick head drops and at some point Tornado injured his shoulder but kept fighting back. B-Boy gets the win with the Cross Special. After the match B-Boy got on the mic and said that Tornado just earned the respect of everyone in the crowd and that he did a real good job and the crowd gave Tornado a huge ovation.

-AXP with Dino Windwood vs. The Havana Pitbulls

From the start this match was really intense as both teams where going at it in the entrance way and in the crowd. Lots of stiff kicks and the crowd was real into this. During the match Dino got a shot in on one of the Pitbulls and was being chased around the JCC by Rocky. The AXP kept using quick tags to keep their advantage. Overall a great match that was real intense and fun to watch. I'm really looking forward to AXP/Lost and Bosh II.

-American Dragon vs. Chris Hero

Travis announces that the elephants wheren't able to fit inside the JCC so this was going to be a normal Chris Hero/American Dragon match. The crowd was very upset with this and started a loud "Fuck You Travis" chant. This match was really great. The begining was mostly comedy which both wrestlers did perfectly which is something I never expect from these guys. Hero worked over Dragon's knee and whenever Dragon would leave himself open Hero would take advantage of it and go right to the knee. Overall this was my MOTN with Dragon getting the win. Some real cool stuff in this inlcuding Hero doing the Airplane Spin then Dragon getting pissed and doing an Airplane Spin of his own. Dragon even sold the airplane spin by going over the top rope when he went to celebrate and climbed one of the corners.

-Scott Lost and Chris Bosh with Valentina vs. Surprise Tag Team

Disco Machine comes out and says that someone stole PWG's belts and was starting to panic in the middle of the ring. Bosh and Lost came out and asked where their belts and Bosh calling this Bush League. Disco then announces that tonight we're going to play the Lucha Drinking Game and announces Los Luchas as the Surprise Team. All four men looked real good in this match and there where a lot of great spots. The Nothernlights Backbreaker looked great and Bosh hitting the Screwdriver onto Phoenix was really sick. This had to be my runner up for MOTN. After the match Frankie Kazarian came out un-announced and told Bosh and Lost to join him and to ditch Valentina and kept calling her the Queen of Dick and told Bosh that the rash he got might of come from her. Bosh and Lost where going to go with Frankie until Valentina gave him a low blow and Bosh and Lost attacked him and stay with Valentina.

-Super Dragon vs. Homicide

Honestly, I thought this match was real good but it wasn't as heated as I thought it was going to be. The crowd seemed pretty dead but still alive cheering for Dragon. B-Boy came out with Homicide and when Dragon was making his entrance he started to stare down B-Boy. Lots and lots of stiff shots in this match. The crowd brawling and Homicide throwing chairs at Dragon made him come off as if he wanted to hurt Dragon more then to win the title. The headbuts in this match where sick along with all the elbows and a nice looking Tope Con Hilo from Homicide. Dragon gets the win when he hit a Supernatural Driver onto Homicide which looked like he dropped Cide right on his head. Overall a real good match, but not the MOTYC I was expecting it to be. Maybe when I see this on DVD I'll change my mind.

Overall another fantastic show from PWG. They have been having the best shows lately and Super Dragon is a great champion defending it against big name indy talent and against other SoCal guys on other shows. Bosh keeps stepping up his game and has progressed so well from being a babyface who nobody really cared for to becoming a heel that everyone loves to hate. I also think that the belt stealing and fake Super Dragon thing have a connection to eachother and hopefully those two things will continue to progress through out the year. I can't wait for the next show with Dragon/Joe II, Generico, Steen, AXP/Bosh and Lost, and the PWG debuts of Roderick Strong and Alex Shelley.
