Guest Fook Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 Raw on Monday drew a 3.5 rating, well down from the past month. - Meltzer This doesn't mean much. It's still the holiday season and they're coming off a best of show instead of a first run episode.
Guest Duncan Eternia Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 No surprise seeing the rating dropped. I'm sure the holidays and last week's "best of" show contributed to the drop, but also this week's episode just seemed 'blah' o me. Then again, I was stil buzzing from Final Battle.
Guest LooneyTune Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I think this was one of the better RAW's in the last few months with a pretty good concept to make the matches seem important. I think it's safe to say becaus eof the holidays and the last week Best of show like already noted.
slimm44 Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 The show had a really good story with the beat the clock gimmick. Next week it should be about the same with the announcers vs. Hassan/other guy Debate! Smell the ratings! /sarcasm
Precious Roy Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I figured the holidays would give the ratings a boost, and it was one of the more complete shows in a while too. Maybe not announcing the opponents hurt, I don't know....
Guest LooneyTune Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 The holidays hurt ratings because people go on vacation and don't watch the shows.
Taker666 Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 To tell you the truth. I see no reason to debate ratings anymore. ever sence 2001, Raw and Smackdown has stood in the high/low 3.0 range with occasionlly high 2.0s and low 4.0s here and there. I don't care what ratings the show gets anymore. they've been the same for 3 years. they're not going to get any higher or any lower anytime soon. I think ratings debate are pretty pointless now. When I watch shows like The Simpsons, friends or Seinfeld, I'am not going to rush to the net to see what the ratings were. same with the WWE. just my 2 cent.
Chazz Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 The "Beat The Clock" Idea was a cool concept In theory, but It was painfully obvious to me that after about the second match that none of The Elimination Chamber Contestants were going to lose their spot at The PPV. With the matches pratically a foregone conclusion, the rest of The Show kinda dragged for me.
Precious Roy Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I was kind of hoping Orton would lose his spot, not that I dislike him, but I thought it would have furthered his "quest" to regain the belt, forcing him to have to win the rumble to get his shot, plus I think the main focus of the match should be on HHH-Batista-Benoit-Edge so IMO there's no reason to have him in there, he's basically an afterthought to me. Only thing is, RAW doesn't really have anyone else the fans would buy in the match, so it was highly doubtful anyone would lose their spot. I could see them doing something stupid like putting Snitsky and/or Kane in, though I'm relieved they didn't. Even so, I think it would have been pretty cool if they threw someone random like Hurricane or Tajiri in, just to give them a rub.
Art Sandusky Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 Next Monday is the Sugar Bowl also.
Guest SoZe Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 How is 3.5 from 3.7 considered "well down from the previous month?" Seriosuly, that's a very small dip in ratings, and maybe the holiday season had something to do with it. It was actually one of the first RAW's in awhile that I didn't hate. There's plenty to be negative about in WWE-land, but that decrease in ratings ain't one of them.
Guest LooneyTune Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I thought RAW was doing 3.9's all last month after Survivor Series happend.
AndrewTS Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I thought RAW was doing 3.9's all last month after Survivor Series happend. They were, but a .2-.4 drop is not "significant" at this time. That's just within the normal range. Raw almost never breaks 4.0 anymore, and when they do it usually is just for a quarter hour. Besides, usually the WWE shows that bring in higher-than-usual ratings are, frankly, retarded bullshit. Pretty much all of the post-SurSer Raws were terrible and were, worst of all, booked EXACTLY THE SAME AS ONE ANOTHER AND REGULAR RAWS! People watched. WTF?!
Guest Loss Posted December 30, 2004 Report Posted December 30, 2004 I agree that ratings now don't mean nearly as much as they did when there were two major companies.
