NFL Week 17

Recommended Posts

Yes he did, but also remember that he was facing Jim Mora, another famous playoff choker as well.

I'm more pissed that Braman decided to go with Kotite over Jeff Fisher in 1990 as the new head coach. Fisher probably would've won more playoff games and not looked like an idiot after Buddy's players left in free agency.

Ryan was overrated as a coach however(not game planning, ignoring the offensive line's problems).

You think Buddy was a good game day coach? I dunno, he had a great defense, and a good, athletic QB in Cunningham, but he never struck me as a great (or even good) sideline coach.

Aside from building the defense, Buddy didn't do jack.

Nah he was much better as a coordinator. That 1990 Wild Card game against Washington proved it, as Gibbs outcoached the hell out of him.

Great defensive coach and defensive talent evaluator, but a horrible gameday coach who was just blatantly ignoring the offense, with the famous quote of his being "We just gotta have Randall make 5 or 6 big plays and let the defense win it".

Poor Eli. Unless he can score in 1:49...he's going 0-7 for the year.

So... Ben Roethlisberger goes 12+-0, Phillip Rivers goes 0-0 (he came in this week in the second half, and kept his team from losing), and Eli Manning goes 0-7... anyone tell me why Eli was the higher ranked prospect?

Edit: Ok, 1-6....

Eli doesn't have the corps that Ben has.

All in all; Manning's skills likely kick in. Remember very few greats look good at the start. Big Ben has shattered the illusion of rookie qb's because not many rookie QB's get a receiving corps like Ward/Buress.

Damn you Eli, I wanted the Giants to go 5-11 and give the Chargers a better draft pick.

Burress was out a few games I believe, though. So Ben did have to do some work himself.

After reading through the 9 pages of this thread, I've come to the definite conclusion that UseTheSledgehammerUh has to be the most irritating poster alive in this folder. Holy shit. That's the kind of person you hear about at Eagles games.

Anyways, I'm happy with today's outcomes, although I do as well as don't look forward to the prospect of playing the Vikings a THIRD time again. At least it'll be out in the cold and the grass. Awesome move keeping the defensive starters out on the field as long as possible, and I'll keep on saying it, but Craig Nall is going to be a fuckin star one day for the Pack, and he just keeps on proving me right as time goes on. I know most of the playing time he's gotten has been in garbage time, but he's looked magnificent every single time I've watched him. He might not make some of the throws that Brett can, but he doesn't throw ridiculously stupid passes into a defensive back's hands either.

EDIT: Moved wildcard/playoff thoughts to wildcard thread.

Let's see if maybe Minnesota's chances won't rely solely on Tice's coaching ability, because everytime it does, the Vikings don't stand a chance, no matter who they're up against.

It's essentially the same thing with the Rams

The Vikings and the Rams are two teams packed with talent that are held down by bad coaches who seem to somehow maintain their owner's confidence (and paychecks).

Yes, but the Rams have a better defense. I'm perhaps even more confounded by their ineptitude this year than any other.

I wonder what the Niners are going to do with that first pick in the draft.

...and to make the point clear, I fucking HATE Mike Martz.

This is a fucking injustice.

How dare Alexander not get the record.

You've got to be fucking KIDDING me...

Seattle's Shaun Alexander has questioned why coach Mike Holmgren called a quarterback sneak in the Seahawks' big win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Alexander ended up finishing 1 yard behind Curtis Martin for the NFL season rushing title.

In the locker room after the game, Alexander said he felt "stabbed in the back."

In his postgame comments, Holmgren said he wanted Alexander to win the rushing title. But the Falcons drove 69 yards in the final 4:28 to pull within 28-26 before failing to convert the 2-point try.

Holmgren gave his players Monday off, and the Seahawks initially weren't planning interviews. However, team officials now say Alexander will speak at a 7 p.m. ET news conference.

The fifth-year running back has had an outstanding season. He reached the Pro Bowl for the second straight year with a career-high and franchise-record 1,696 yards rushing.

The Seahawks will play the opening round of the playoffs at home on Saturday. Seattle clinched the NFC West title with Sunday's win.

I'm cheering for an earthquake to swallow up both teams this weekend.

Is a Holmgren/Alexander feud in the making? If this keeps up and more problems are created, one of the two won't last long in Seattle. Question is who is more valuable?
