Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Below are who I think are the top 20 workers in the company right now. Feel free to agree or disagree with my rankings. Based on in the ring ability alone. 1. Chris Benoit 2. Eddie Guerrero 3. Tajiri 4. Steve Austin ( Great psychological worker, due to injuries is physically limited now a days, had a great 2001 amazing match with Benoit 5. Kurt Angle 6. Chris Jericho 7. Mysterio Jr. (He just signed right? Hasn't been at the top of his game for a while but is still pretty damn good) 8. Lance Storm (Getting a raw deal from the WWE) 9. Helms 10. William Regal (His stiff style just does not fit in with the WWE, very underrated) 11. Rhyno (has come a long way since ECW when all he did was squash people, intense, and a good mat wrestler as well, was doing great before his injury) 12. Edge (getting there, good match with Angle moves him up a bit) 13. Chavo Guerrero (also very underated) 14. RVD (adjusting to the WWE style nicley, still spot driven, and lacks basic psychology) 15. Kidman 16. Booker T (has not been good in the WWF in my opinion, size has slowed him down, needs to be carried) 17. DDP (Age is slowing him down, however the only maineventer in WCW to get anything good out of Goldberg, I hope he doesn't retire) 18. Christian (Better on the mike than in the ring, overated but still ok) 19 X-Pac 20. The Rock (execution of moves sucks, can be carried to decent matches) Also if i knew the situation with Taka Michinoku (is he still under contract?) He would be in the top 10. Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted May 8, 2002 >1. Chris Benoit >2. Eddie Guerrero Agreed. >3. Tajiri Overrated. He's probably in the lower top 10. >4. Steve Austin ( Great psychological worker, due to injuries is physically limited now a days, had a great 2001 amazing match with Benoit Should be 3rd. Could be challenging the top two were he not feuding with the Big Show and Undertaker. >5. Kurt Angle 4th. >6. Chris Jericho Probably about right. >7. Mysterio Jr. (He just signed right? Hasn't been at the top of his game for a while but is still pretty damn good) Maybe around here. >8. Lance Storm (Getting a raw deal from the WWE) Totally overrated. Low top 20. >9. Helms Top 20, not sure about top 10 though. >10. William Regal (His stiff style just does not fit in with the WWE, very underrated) Top 5. Regal rules. >11. Rhyno (has come a long way since ECW when all he did was squash people, intense, and a good mat wrestler as well, was doing great before his injury) No way. He's improved a lot but he's still lacking the great matches to put him up here. Plus, he could end up like HHH after returning (the same could have been said for Benoit but I have more faith in his ability than Rhyno). Low top 20 if at all. >12. Edge (getting there, good match with Angle moves him up a bit) Too high. Top 20, but he still needs some more good singles matches. >13. Chavo Guerrero (also very underated) Not sure about this, probably a tad lower. >14. RVD (adjusting to the WWE style nicley, still spot driven, and lacks basic psychology) Lower, although maybe in the top 20. >15. Kidman About right, and should be above Chavo and RVD. >16. Booker T (has not been good in the WWF in my opinion, size has slowed him down, needs to be carried) A bit lower probably. Hasn't had many good matches since his knees started breaking down. >17. DDP (Age is slowing him down, however the only maineventer in WCW to get anything good out of Goldberg, I hope he doesn't retire) He's done, so I probably wouldnt rank him. >18. Christian (Better on the mike than in the ring, overated but still ok) About right I'd guess. >19 X- Pac Maybe, if he's motivated. >20. The Rock (execution of moves sucks, can be carried to decent matches) Way higher, very underrated. Top 10, around where Jericho is. The Rock produces as many high quality matches as anyone in the WWF from 2000 on, and carried RVD and Rhyno to some of their best matches. possible omissions: HHH (has gotten considerably worse but probably still top 20 based on some decent matches), Raven (has looked pretty good recently), Tommy Dreamer (really busting out his technical skills over the last year), Chris Kanyon (a lot better than several of the people on this list)
Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Hell, at this point, I would put Trish, Jazz and Molly on the top 10 list before some of those guys.
Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2002 1. Chris Benoit 2.Kurt Angle 3.Eddie 4.Stone Cold 5.Chris Jericho 6.Kidman 7.Kanyon 8.Lance Storm 9.Helms 10.Tajri 11.Edge 12.Regal 13.Rock 14.HHH 15.RVD 16.Trish 17.D' Lo 18.Rhyno 19.Booker T 20.Raven Honerable Mention: Tommy Dreamer- little too old and banged up DDP-see Dreamer, Tommy Christian-needs better singles partners to work with
Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Yeah I forgot about Kanyon he is a top 20 worker. Dreamer no way he is overated by everyone and thier mother, he is a decent garbage wrestler at best. The Rock has to be carried to anything good (see wrestlemania 17, Austin dragged his ass through the entire match).
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted May 8, 2002 " The Rock has to be carried to anything good (see wrestlemania 17, Austin dragged his ass through the entire match)." That's at best debatable. Nor was the Rock carried in any of these: -SS98 Ladder vs. HHH -JD2000 Iron Man vs. HHH -NM2000 vs. Angle (in fact Rock carried Angle here when he was still green) -FL2000 vs. Benoit -any of his matches with Jericho -NWO2001 vs. Angle plus there are others. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Damn, I once again have to agee with Hogan Made Wrestling. The only thing I disagree with is RVD. In this day and age, he is definitely in the top 10 since his matches have CONSISTENTLY been some of the best ones on nearly every card he's wrestled on sincehis arrival. witness his ability to get entertaining matches out of Taker, Goldust, and Regal. And I completely agree about the Rock. Besides the crappy Sharpshooter, the Rock is gold.
Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2002 RVD is good he just goes spot to spot too often althought his Raw match a few weeks ago with Taker was great the Goldustin and Regal are questionable
Guest wolverine Report post Posted May 8, 2002 1. Chris Benoit 2. Eddie Guerrero 3. Kurt Angle 4. Steve Austin 5. Chris Jericho 6. Tajiri 7. Rey Misterio Jr. 8. Kidman 9. Christian 10. Booker T 11. Ric Flair 12. Steve Regal 13. Edge 14. Shane Helms 15. Rhyno 16. Rock 17. Chavo Guerrero Jr. 18. Jeff Hardy 19. Matt Hardy 20. Randy Orton
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted May 8, 2002 A year ago I probably would have had the Hardys in the top 20, but after looking like shit for god knows how long I couldn't give them any rewards.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted May 8, 2002 In terms of a top 20: 1. Chris Benoit 2. Eddie Guerrero 3. Steve Austin 4. Kurt Angle 5. William Regal 6. Chris Jericho 7. The Rock 8. Tajiri 9. Rey Mysterio Jr. 10. Kidman 11. Hurricane 12. Kanyon 13. Chavo Guerrero Jr. 14. Edge 15. RVD 16. Lance Storm 17. HHH 18. Booker T 19. Christian 20. Rhyno I dropped X-Pac off because he hasn't done shit recently, while Rhyno who I considered dropping was at least looking good before his injury. And while I don't think their top 20, I'd also like to give Chuck & Billy some props.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Hmm I probably could have got Funaki on there somewhere. And btw I consider Malenko retired, because otherwise he is top 10 for sure.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted May 8, 2002 15. RVD Put it this way. Who would have a better match with Vince McMahon, Ric Flair or RVD?
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted May 8, 2002 I thought about Flair but the fact that he isn't really a wrestler at this point went against him. I wouldn't list Shane McMahon either were he active (and before you say "Hogan isn't a wrestler either", he wasn't anywhere near my top 20 in terms of ringwork ). Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted May 8, 2002 You guys are nuts. I agree with the one dude who said RVD should be higher. He is easily top 5. My god, he's had the best match on virtually every TV show and house show he has been on since last July.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Doesn't answer the question. The fact that Flair can carry a broomstick in the ring, while Eddie, the #2 worker, had a hard time carrying RVD at the PPV, is pretty self explainitory I'd say.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Put it this way. Who would have a better match with Vince McMahon, Ric Flair or RVD? Nobody can have a good match with Vince McMahon. I remember watching Kurt work Flair's leg on SmackDown and thinking "Hey, that looks pretty good. Looks real, even" Vince tags in with authority. Raises Flair's leg, and.... Starts jerking own leg back and forth like he's having a spasm. What the hell? You call that a kick?

" Vince's match with Flair at RR2002 and with Austin at SVTDM1999 are both quite good, for what they are. Vince's brings a good heel psychology to his matches and also doesn't mind juicing or taking a beating. I like Vince's work better than Shane's as a whole (oh, and his match with Shane at WM wasn't bad either).
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted May 8, 2002 For the top 20 what are you basing it on? The top 20 workers over the last couple of years ar the top 20 workers at this very second.
Guest Cataclysm911 Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Well, if I were to make a list, Mike Awesome would be in the top 20. Injured or not.
Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2002 i went for top 20 wrestlers in the WWEgh right now on the roster although i love Flair and i agree he could carry said broomstick to a good match he's not an active wrestler and way past his prime i wouldn't consider Regal on the list when he was the commish so Flair doesn't get on the list for being the owner and wrestling three matches in the wwf sense he came in in the earily 90's when he first came to the wwf he'd probably be my 1. Guest Special K Report post Posted May 8, 2002 1. Angle 2. Benoit 3. Austin 4. Jericho (Him wrestling himself against Hogan impressed me, busts his ass.) 5. Storm 6. RVD 7. Eddie (Hasn't been near as good as he was. With time he'll be top 3) 8. Tajiri 9. Christian (consummate seller, needs a stronger offense) 10. Booker (Hey, I'm a Booker mark) 11. Rocky 12. Chavo 13. HHH 14. Helms 15. Kanyon 16. Rhyno 17. Edge 18. Awesome 19. Kidman 20. Regal Obviously some of these are conjecture, as I expect Benoit to be near as good as Angle until he gets his form back. And I'm judging these largely on WWF appearances (though there's some bias, obviously we've seen next to nothing from Awsome and Kanyon) Which is why Regal ranks low, I like him, but he hasn't put on fantastic matches in a while. Honorable mentions: Dreamer: Consistently good on Heat, plus I'm an old EE-CEE-DUB faithful. Lesnar: Limitless potential Trish, Jazz, Molly: Have made the women's dicision worth watching for the first time in forever. Extra special props to Trish for training helluva hard when she could have been just another pretty face. (and to Molly for being foin)
Guest Cataclysm911 Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Fuck it, I'll go ahead and make my list. What do I have to lose? 1.) Kurt Angle 2.) Eddie Guerrero 3.) Steve Austin 4.) Chris Benoit 5.) Guest Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Just a comment on William Regal. I like him. I think his mic skills are excellent. However, I don't understand how everyone can say he is great, but his style doesn't match anyone in the WWF. If that's the case, shouldn't he change styles when facing WWF wrestlers? I mean, you can't expect everyone to go on their style and Regal to be doing his style, and there to be chemistry. Again, I like Regal, but shouldn't he conform if he is going to stay in the WWF? Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted May 8, 2002 At this very moment top 20: 1. Chris Jericho (He carried Hogan kicking and screaming to a watchable match, he has been on his game since WM) 2. Kurt Angle 3. RVD (when he is motivated) 4. Eddie Guerrero 5. Steve Austin (He just seems completely out of it and has not had a good run as of late, awful match with UT) 6. Lance Storm 7. Hurricane 8. Kidman 9. Edge 10. Christian 11. Tajiri 12. Booker 13. HHH (he is starting to get back in the swing of things) 14. RVD (unmotivated) 15. Molly 16. Dreamer (I like him in the Foley always selling something mode) 17. Trish 18. Al Snow 19. Raven 20. Jeff Hardy (a bump machine will always be useful) Did not count anyone that has not wrestled regularly the last couple of months

Guest Goodear Report post Posted May 8, 2002 Mark's Top 20 ... I'm an author now, so it gives my opinions weight............. HAHAHAHAHA! =-) I'm dropping Benoit and Rhyno due to injury since you never know how wrestlers are going to come off a injury. Otherwise, Benoit would be top 5 and Rhyno top 10 (Airplane spins! Body sissors! Whats not to love?). 1) Kurt Angle (The boys got it all, the only failing I see is that he doesn't always set up the anklelock especially well with a great deal of leg work) 2) The Rock (Most consistantly entertaining wrestler in my book. Doesn't have great execution, but has wonderful energy thats carries past that failing.) 3) RVD (Great set of moves that all work the ribs in preperation for the ***** frog splash, a tremendus finisher in any case. He even brought respectibility back the Hardcore title for a period.) 4) Steve Austin (He's on a downturn lately after a series of inferior opponents, but shouldn't he be good no matter what?) 5) Chris Jericho (Offence lacks impact for my money, but has been in a total upswing in the last few weeks dragging a good match out of Hulk Hogan of all people!) 6) Booker T (I love the way he floats around the ring and uses his kicks as high impact offence. Still needs a better finisher, but he's still totally great) 7) Eddie Guerrero (I'm still a little wary since I haven't seen a whole lot of him since his return. But his offence seems a little low impact to me especially his rolling senton.) 8) Tajiri (A little too dependant on kicking for my tastes. But I just dig the hell out of his springboard elbow and Tarantula) 9) Undertaker (Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's slow and old and all that. But this isn't a race and its not a beauty contest either. The guy knows how to pace a match as long as its not booked to go for 15 minutes plus. He also lays down a pounding in a great convincing way.) 10) Triple H (Underrated since his return, he's shaking off more ring rust daily and getting better and better each time I see him) 11) Edge (He's underwhelmingly good.) 12) Hurricane (I'm tired, so say goodbye to the commentary) 13) Kidman 14) Albert 15) Christian 16) Brock Lesner 17) Lance Storm 18) D'Lo Brown 19) Jeff Hardy 20) Billy Gunn
