The Myth of the American Meritocracy

Well the conservative media likes to sell its audience on the concept that everyone has a chance in life, but the truth is if you happen to be a minority or female, or not of the proper sexual orientation you have the odds against you right out of the box.

I'll agree that being a rich WASP leaves you more open for sucess, but honestly in America... a 18 year old minority or female with the same skills as a 18 year old Middle Class White Male has SO many more options open to them as to what college to go to. Nowadays in that, and a lot of things, being Lower Middle Class and White will screw you over.
