Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 It doesn't matter if the move is pretty or not, because I think it's a good spot. But that's my point: it's a good highspot, not a good move, if that makes any sense. At one time, and even now at times, the piledriver was a credible finisher..or 'move'. So why shouldn't this be? I mean, are you saying, he should do the Canadian Destroyer, as a move for a pop. And then after that, end a match with say...a really hard clothesline? Lol. I'm saying that doing a flipping piledriver here and there would be a good highspot, because it just doesn't LOOK like it'd be a finishing maneuver. It just doesn't have the finesse to make it a good finish, if that makes any sense. When I see it, I ask the same question each time: "why doesn't his opponent just drop down to his knees mid-move to drop Petey on his fucking head?" I don't doubt that the piledriver itself would be a good finish, but this variation of it just makes the move seem like too much of a highspot and not enough like an actual finish. May not have been a good example, but couldn't really think of a good move. But you get the point. A high spot is usually just that...a spot, somethign you expect to get the really long two count, with the opponent just getting out. The Destroyer, is definitely not a move that should be kicked out of. So it's not just some random high spot.. Why shouldn't people kick out of the Canadian Destroyer when they're kicking out of everything else in the match that SHOULD put them away? Considering some of the other moves in the X-Division, the Canadian Destroyer actually looks pretty weak. With Kid Kash, I dunno.....I just dont see what's so apparently special about this guy other than that he has good mic skills. His ring work is not as good as it was back in the ECW days and his heat isnt as top notch as some people think he's getting. His mic skills aren't even why I like him. I think he's a pretty dull interview, and his voice annoys me. But it's how he moves in the ring that makes me love him. He's, arguably, the greatest heel in TNA. He takes cheapshots at every opportunity, is just such a prick to EVERYBODY (smaller opponents, larger opponents, the referee, the fans, etc.), and he bumps his ass off to make his opponent look good. The guy can tell a story, and he was the best thing going for TNA in all of 2004, in my eyes, and it's just another reason to dislike JJ for not pushing him to the moon when the fans would buy him as a top contender for the World title. And yes, his heat has dwindled. But can you blame the fans for not getting into his matches as much as they used to when it's both new fans compared to Nashville, probably more "marky" fans (they pop for Jeff Hardy, 'nuff said), and he's been booked into meaningless tag feuds with shitty opponents, if anything at all? Styles 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 Pretty much lost interest - haven't watched a show since the last PPV and didn't know FR was on tomorrow till I saw this thread. If you enjoyed the last PPV, why not give this one a shot? Are you on commission ? If any of the matches turn out to be particularly good, I might download them later. Their refusal to properly utilize their roster at the expense of bringing in over the hill has beens and keeping the title on JJ means that I don't feel particularly obliged to help them stay in business. No, I already clarified I'm not on the payroll! I'm just a fan who wants to help promote the show. I think it's kind of hypocritical that if you enjoy it you download it illegally to watch it but won't buy the show and support the company bringing it to you, as you don't like their booking, yet you still want to watch the show. One or the other. If you don't like TNA, fine. But then you shouldn't feel the need to download it... Anyway, results so far are kind of disappointing to say the least, taking in account the huge positive feedback Turning Point recieved, I'd think more people would be willing to give this one a shot. Oh well, if the PPV ends up getting good reviews, I will post a response poll similar to Turning Point and it should be interesting to see what it says. If results are similar I might want to get into why there is a disparity between people who claim to enjoy the product yet won't order the shows...
Twisted Intestine 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 It's all to do with money. Unless you have an abundance of it, who would drop $30-40 on a wrestling show? To go see it live, yes, but to watch 3 hours of TV? There's much better things to do with your money. You'd have to be a pretty hardcore fan to drop money for every PPV when you don't have alot of it.

AnonymousBroccoli 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 I'm really not interested in anything except Ultimate X, and maybe the 6-man tag. ESPN Classic Canada is showing the "Best of the Heavyweights" show that was aired after the last weekly PPV, and watching their "best" isn't really putting me in a mindset to want to give them any money I might be able to scrounge up. I know that's a dopey excuse, but oh well. My brother's out of town, and may tape it where he's at. If I get a hold of a copy, I'll watch it, since it's wrestling. I thought Victory Road was pretty lousy, but really liked most of Turning Point, so who knows what tonight'll be like.
AnonymousBroccoli 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2005 There's a preview show on the PPV preview channel here, and what seems to be the entire Sabin vs. Skipper vs. Dutt Ultimate X match from the Best Damn Sports Show Period special is being played. At least with the weekly PPVs I could watch them at a friends house.
