Styles 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 Being the MMA folder (well part MMA) folder, I figure this probably belongs here. So anyone else excited about this? I liked the original concept for Tough Enough and this sounds like it only with MMA and they'll fight for survival plus Chuck and Randy are the trainers. Sixteen men from across the Americas travel to Las Vegas with one dream, one goal - to become The Ultimate Fighter. Determination. Discipline. Excellence. These young men are accomplished athletes, disciplined in wide range of mixed martial arts that include wrestling, boxing, judo, Jiu-Jitsu, karate and kickboxing. Each has the dream, the hope, and the will to fight in an Ultimate Fighting Championship® event. Only one fighter from each of the two weight classes will succeed with the challenge. During the show the competitors will take their training to a higher level. They will be brought to Las Vegas where the UFC® brand has its National Training Center. For the next seven weeks the competitors will be under the strict supervision of two of the most successful and famous UFC® fighters and trainers on the planet, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture and UFC Light Heavyweight #1 Contender Chuck Liddell. The competitors will endure the most grueling training and intense pressure of their lives. They will train together, live together, and fight against each other inside and outside of the storied UFC Octagon. The men are split into two teams, Team Liddell and Team Couture. The two squads compete against each other within their weight classes to avoid elimination. In each episode, the competitors will also compete in a "Challenge." The Challenges are designed to push the fighters to the edge of their physical and mental capabilities. The Challenges revolve around old school training techniques, physical stamina, and mental strategy. The team that wins the challenge controls which fighters must fight to avoid elimination. At the end of each week, one fighter from each team must fight in the Octagon to avoid being kicked out of the UFC Training Center until only two remain in each weight division. In the end, The Ultimate Fighter will be decided by a competition match -- a head-to-head fight to the finish inside the Octagon®. The weak are eliminated... The strong will survive... Only one will be left standing from each weight class... The Ultimate Fighter Each week, we'll be bringing you a new UFC classic fight featuring either Randy Couture or Chuck Liddell, culminating with their light-heavyweight title fight against each other. We'll also be bringing you weekly tips from "On the Mat" with Marc Laimon, so you can learn the moves the pros use. This week, we're starting with a little extra. Take a look at this WEC title fight between Mike Swick and Chris Leben, two of the contestants on the show. You won't be disappointed. Here are the bios of the contestants: Left to Right: Chuck Liddell, Willa Ford, Randy Couture. Chuck is the number-one contender in the UFC's Light Heavyweight division. With a record of 14-3-0, he is one of the most experienced fighters competing today. Chuck wrestled four years at California Polytechnic State University Primarily a striker, he uses his wrestling skills to keep the fight where he likes it - standing. Remember Jessica Rabbit's immortal catchphrase, "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way?" Those eight words are the antithesis of what makes Willa Ford unique in the pop music universe. Because not only does the 22-year old Floridian refuse to pretend she's a goody two-shoes but, more importantly, she's no cartoon character. Willa Ford is a deceptively complex individual, firmly at the helm of her own career. Randy is the reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, having defeated Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, and Vitor Belfort all en route to the title. He has proven that things only get better with age, coming into his prime at 40 years old. Randy is the only man ever to win UFC championships in two separate weight divisions. He twice held the Heavyweight Championship before dropping down to 205 pounds to capture the Light Heavyweight title. The Contestants Alex K.
