The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2005 Good point. The British are good examples for lots of things. Look at the royals for arguments against inbreeding. Look at people's teeth for arguments against national health care. And on and on.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2005 Bottom line, polygamy will not be allowed because it serves no practical purpose to society, its lack of precedence in any culture notwithstanding. To even make this an issue is an attempt to attack the concept of gay marriage. The 'slippery slope' argument is a fallacy because most civilized socities define a marriage as having only two people in it. Aside from the few Mormons and cults who practiced this (who were and still are social pariahs), who else has practiced this in the past century?
