Chronic 2000 was a good album, no matter what anyone else says.

This brings back memories. Only songs I like off that playlist are the Bloodhound Gang song, the Dre song, and "Iris".

If you've been hanging out with people who think The Chronic 2000 was a bad album, you need new friends. It was pretty much flawless.

My thoughts exactly. I didn't know there were people who considered it less than above-average.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Everyone in my old circle of friends loves Chronic 2000, but they've got sort of an affinity to older gangsta rap like the original Chronic, or NWA-type shit. Hard to argue that rap/hip-hop/whatever pretty much peaked out in the mid-to late 90's., a lot of hip hop coming out today is shit.

Crunk sure is fun shit, though.

Vast overstatement. Singles are phenomenal and "What's the Difference" and "The Watcher" pad out a really good first half, but I can take it or leave it after "The Next Episode." The production remains good to great throughout but the fill-in rappers leave a lot to be desired. Anything that has Hitman on 8 tracks isn't close to flawless.

I just can't get into rap the way I used to. I don't care for crunk that much, though there are a couple of songs which I don't mind. But overall the game definitely seems to be decreasing.

The only new rapper I have cared about in the last couple of years is Kanye. At least he's trying to say something. Too much shit has to do with beers and bitches, not nearly enough messages in music. I don't know. I'll take mid-90's Pac, Biggie and Dre over any of the new shit, any day of the week.
