Guest Deadbolt Report post Posted February 23, 2005 2005 has been kind to him? He's been jobbing left and right to HBK and Randy Orton! In 2004 he was IC Champion, and was involved in one of the biggest storylines of the year, as well as one of the highlight matches at WrestleMania. This year, he'll be lucky if he even makes it onto the card. How can one classify that as 2005 being kind? Christian has always been a solid worker, so seeing him put on five star matches is nothing out of the ordianry. However, in terms of the future, things are not looking as brightly now as they were in 2004. That IC Title reign was meant to knock Christian into the main event scene, but for some reason, the WWE went back on all of that.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 What was that line Heyman used during, I think, Unforgiven 2001? Maybe it was KOTR 2001...sometime during that period when Christian had a match. He was talking about Christian's name, and said "C'mon JR, how do you think I'd like it if my parents named me 'Jew'?" Christian has often been criticized actually for doing too many chinlocks and weak punches, and for stalling. He seems to have stepped up his game quite a bit lately, and I was praising him for it. He's been in the best match of the show most weeks on RAW in the new year. I don't think anyone would say five stars, though.
Guest Fook_Theta Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Easily *** matches. Solid, entertaining, even got the crowd into them. Now if the rest of the card would pick up some, although watching Shelton knock the fuck out of Snitsky was pretty fun in a "Didn't see that coming" way. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 If anything, Christian's taking and selling of both the RKO last week and Sweet Chin Music this week were beautiful.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2005 Christian has got the potential to be big. He's the most entertaining guy on the show every week and a total natural character wise. As good as the early Rock maybe. They just need to find the right go-between between his goofy antics (which, like the attempts at out dancing Booker T a couple of years back are great amusement all well and good for the IC Title range, but need to be toned back a little if he's to go higher) and his serious character. The thing he needs is more of a moveset though. He has maybe two or three recognisable moves, where-as the WWE style benefits those who run through their feature spots.
