Garth 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 The UK's wrestling channel has organised a supershow to take place in Coventy on the 19th. This is to be the biggest independt show to occur on British soil with talent from all over the world being flown in for it. The card as it stands at the moment is: Doug Williams, James Tighe & Scorpio vs Miawa, Ogawa & Tiger Emporer. CM Punk vs Samoa Joe Christopher Daniels vs AJ Styles Ravens Rules- Raven vs Alex Shane Traditional British Rules 3 Minute Rounds - Steve Grey vs Mal Sanders Fatal Four Way Petey Willams vs Jonny Storm vs Chris Sabin vs Spud Tickets are still availabe from www.internationalshowdown.com Anyone from the board going? Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 I'm very tempted. Depends if I can convince a friend to go, as I'm not quite prepared to watch wrestling alone, even for Punk-Joe...
Guest jobsquad Report post Posted March 8, 2005 frankley given the fact that it was advertised as stars from all the feds on twc the absences of several of the feds so far kind of leaves me disapointed.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 If I could get to Coventry, I would. But sadly not to be. I'm still dissappointed they didn't go for broke on Joe vs. Misawa.
Garth 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 I'm going to be there, I conviced a friend to drive me up. Should be a fun event. Hope to see some guys from here possibly.

Guest The Masked Avenger Report post Posted March 9, 2005 Couple of friends of mine are going. They are also getting in backstage. Bastards. -TMA
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted March 9, 2005 I'm going, if anyone wants to trade or sell any mags or tapes just ask!!! I'll be in the second row- it'll be great!
Guest Pariah Report post Posted March 9, 2005 I'm going, I've got floor seats, block B. Should be a pretty good show, hopefully better than the FWA event in the SkyDome anyway. While the card is good for what it is, I'm a little underwhelmed by the fact that there are only six matches.
Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted March 10, 2005 I was offered a ticket but I'm refusing to go. Why? Send it to me. Friends of mine work with several independent groups in England and some of us have issues with Alex Shane, and find his involvement with the show discouraging

To me it's like an extended FWA Show, If you get my drift....
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Ah, I see. Well I'm not really up on that situation, but I did find Shane becoming FWA champ a bit of a joke.
Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted March 10, 2005 I do find it funny his "boy" James Tighe in the main event. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've met Tighe and hung out with him, and he's a nice guy, and I wish him the best - but he doesn't belong in the main event of an FWA Show, let alone a match with Misawa
Guest Pariah Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Tighe's a good all-round wrestler and while he may not be at the same name level as the other five men in the match I don't believe he'll look out of place in the ring with them. If anyone looks out of place in any of the matches, its Spud in the four-way in my opinion
Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Personally, I think it's Williams who is the total anchornism (sp) in there, given that he's SO far ahead of the other three talent wise, but yeah. Saying that though, again, God forbid one of Alex's trainees not get on the show. Just saying
Guest Pariah Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Yeah, damn them for trying to get one of Britain's best young talents international recognition.
Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Can't wait to see what the "dark matches" are. Bold Prediction: Hade Vansen stinks up another ring, this time in front of real journalists. damn them for trying to get one of Britain's best young talents international recognition Spud? Talented????? I don't think so. There's only really 3/4 people in the FWA with honest to god talent, and he isn't one of them
The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Spud's alright. I've met him five or six times helping out at shows in the east midlands and he's a good bloke and even though he's no Misawa or whatever he's more than capable of putting on very entertaining spot fests. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 The FWA is as good as it's been in years right now and has been since about 2003. You can't argue with success. Of course, if you've have problems with Alex Shane, then you're not exactly an objective person are you?
The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Thing with the FWA is, and this is purely me being bitter and hateful just for the sake of it, is that they said that the tiny tiny promotion i mentioned before were FORBIDDEN from calling their top title a 'world title' and the ONLY 'world title' is the FWA world title. OR ELSE. Petty, petty bastards.
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 If anyone's going to the twc showdown, and has early powerslam mags to sell, let me know and I'll take them off your hands.... cheers James

I'm sure everyone knows about him cheerfully cancelling a ring on another promotion who *gasp* brought in bigger names than him.

When you said Williams, I instantly thought of Doug and thought you were carrying on the James Tighe talk. I wouldn't say Spud is one of the best talents in the FWA, I wouldn't overly call him a pure FWA worker to begin with. Like I said, I can't remember here or somewhere else, Spud is the only guy that really seems out of place on the whole card in my eyes, but the experience can only be a good thing for him in the long run. And Hade Vansen stinking up the joint? Surely not!

And Hade Vansen stinking up the joint? Surely not! I presume the thinking is that he can fly around a bit and, mainly, just being in the ring with those guys could raise his drawing power slightly, from 'that kid spud' to 'that kid who was in the great 4 way match with those US guys'. Guest Pariah Report post Posted March 11, 2005 Yeah, that's my thinking behind his involvement as well but I was looking forward to seeing Sonjay Dutt in the match. I doubt Spud's involvement in the match will really increase his noterity as I'm guessing the majority of the fans going are going to be the same people that were there for BUIII and saw him win the opening match there or follow the FWA and the British Indy scene already and so already know of him. At least he has stopped wearing that bloody Busted t-shirt though
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2005 Thing with the FWA is, and this is purely me being bitter and hateful just for the sake of it, is that they said that the tiny tiny promotion i mentioned before were FORBIDDEN from calling their top title a 'world title' and the ONLY 'world title' is the FWA world title. OR ELSE. Petty, petty bastards. Not to offend...but technically, this tiny promotion can't have a World Title really. The NWA World Title, WWE World Title, ROH World Title, FWA World Title etc. have been, you know, defended 'around the world'. Don't get me wrong, I don't understand why it was particularly a problem to the FWA. But I do find it amusing that any tiny little fed can call their title a 'World Title' when clearly, it's not. Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted March 12, 2005 Question. Has Alex ever worked in the States. I remember reading an interview in Power Slam tears back he really wanted to. I bet it kills him at night knowing Jody and Jonny Storm are at least known names on the US Indy circuit
