Official 2005 TSM NFL Mock Draft

A bit of analysis on my pick:

The Bears haven't had a star at a skills position in forever. What with a young QB, solid if unspectacular RB, and the FA signing of Muhammad, Chicago needs a wideout who is a sure thing, unlike their inexperienced fast kids that generally don't pan out. I don't see a bigger "sure thing" in this draft than Williams. USC basically plays the pro game in college, meaning Mike will adapt quickly, taking a LOT of pressure off the rest of the offense, even if he doesn't have a breakout year.

Giving Muhammad/Jones the chance they need to step up could mean the difference between playing in the playoffs and watching them. They're squared away on the other side of the ball.

Chicago HAS a sure thing in Muhammad though, but he is getting on in years so who knows?

If USC plays a pro style in college, why is it that Pete Carroll wasn't as successful in New England, then...?

I'm going to make an effort to get more into college football this upcoming season. It's just hard for me to get into it when my favorite team is usually unranked, and with the whole BCS crap..

2 hours left on the clock for Washington.

I think USC's offense has a lot more to do with Chow than it did with Carroll.

And I agree with you AoO that Williams is probably the surest bet in the draft. He may not have the upside of a Edwards or Williamson, but is more likely to reach his peak which is probably somewhere in the Keyshawn Johnson region.

Any thread not relating to baseball gets the shaft this time of year, unfortunately.

man, why all the baseball bashing X, there are a lot of people on the board that just happen to love the game. I love football as much as the next guy, but opening day in baseball is met with great anticipation, always has been always will.

Oh man, Tennessee wouldn't take Edwards. The have Bennett and Calico. Boo.

Yeah, and Calico is injury-prone.

I forgot about him, too. So, I ended up overlooking him being on the roster, as well.

Leave it to me to do something stupid like this.

I personally hate the hell out of it unless I'm trashed and at the game, or playing it. But it's true that there's entirely way too much focus on baseball in this folder.

The season's starting. Football's months away yet. Priorities, and it ain't my sandbox. Besides, everyone can find the thread. Dallas better pick somebody, or else they're gonna get someone who sucks.

San Diego needs a wide receiver to go with McCardell and Parker. They get it in one of the fastest receivers in the draft.....

San Diego Chargers, with their first pick of the first round, 12th overall, has selected

Could we get this pinned please?

When the Head to Head baseball draft is done, I'll unpin that one and pin this one.

EDIT: And it is, so I will

Hmmm... OK time to make a pick that might be a bit unusual.

With the 13th pick in the first round, the Houston Texans select

Marcus Spears, DE, LSU

I had a choice between pass rushing and pass protection. I'm going to give Seth Wand another year (or maybe not, depending on how the rest of this draft shakes out) to become an NFL starter. Plus, outside of Robaire Smith, the Texans' defensive line is older than dirt.

With the 15th pick of the first Rd., looking to shore up the defensive side of the ball, the Kansas City Chiefs select.....

Travis Johnson, DT, Florida State

- Johnson is 6-4, 305, big time run stopper who can close the pocket on pass plays. Will demand double coverage. Biggest questions are off-field/attitude wise.

*sniff* I wanted Derrick Johnson, why must I do so many drugs on draft night? :(
