DMann2003 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Okay here's the set up- I bought an Emerson EWR10D4 DVD Recorder tonight and my main reason for purchasing was it has edit capabilities. So I'm trying to hook it up so I can play my VCR (wrestling tapes) and record onto the DVD, I followed the connections but my DVD menu isn't coming up. I'm gonna make a test with WrestleWar 92 anyway and if worst comes to worst I'm only out 1 DVD-R disc. I know I'm not the only one who's tried to do this I just have to figure out why the connection doesn't seem to be pulling up the DVD recorder menu, I haven't had any trouble hooking up other devices (PS2, DVD Home Theater, Digital cable) and the VCR signal's coming through. If anyone else has a similar setup (or this brand DVD recorder) and can help me out, let me know either here or through a PM. Thank you.

Copying most commercial tapes WILL work, as I have converted several of my WCW masters already. The only problem tapes I've had so far were some of the Coliseum Video tapes such as Wrestlemania 4 and Survivor Series 1987, both of which gave me a "Cannot copy this" error. There must be something encoded into these particular tapes because I copied Wrestlemania 2 and a bunch of early-90s Coliseum Video tapes and had no problems. Getting back to your original question, I think the best way to figure out what's going on is to: 1. Hook the DVD player up solely to the TV using a set of RCA cables and MAKE SURE you know which input it's plugged into. 2. Power up the DVD player and make sure that it's on. You may try putting a pre-recorded DVD into it and playing it as a test. 3. Check the batteries in the remote control to make sure they're charged up. 4. If the batteries are charged, make sure that the remote is working properly and try to power the player on and off with it. If the player WILL NOT power off through the remote but will manually, the problem is either with the remote or with the unit's sensor. Sorry that I can't go more in-depth than that, but this sounds like a case where the inputs from the DVD to the TV are screwed up or, alternately, the remote doesn't work. DMann2003 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Yeah, I'm thinking I've got the Input's screwed up, Remote works fine as far as I can tell, I'll test it sans VCR hookup tomorrow, but I've read reviews of the system mentioning recording from VCR so I know it can be done, just have to figure it out. DMann2003 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Update, I've got the Recorder coming up on my AV1 outlet on my Samsung 26" Widescreen monitor, and the VCR coming across AV2, now I just have to figure out how to record the image from the tape onto the DVD. I'll get some rest and tackle this later this morning. EDIT- Didn't take long to figure out how to hook it up properly, and I've got it working now, now to start transferring 1 media to another. DMann2003 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Burned my first DVD today, a nice little SNME comp of the 10/87 & 11/87 programs, recorded at LP speed, pixelation was kind of persistant, but then again original tape quality wasn't that hot to begin with. I'll probably have to make a few discs before I get a flow going with it. The controls are easy to understand, I'm making a Tag Team best disc right now at SP (2hrs) speed, might get better quality that way. Here's the match list- HHH/Austin vs Benoit/Jericho (5-21-01 RAW) TLC III 4way (5-24-01 Smackdown) Hart Brother's vs The Steiner Brothers (Wrestlefest 1994) 10 Man tag (2-7-00 RAW) Rockers vs Hart Foundation (SNME 4/1990) 1-2-3 Kid/Razor Ramon vs Shawn Michaels/Diesel (Slamfest 1995) Shawn Michaels/Ric Flair vs Bret Hart/Randy Savage (Grudges, Gripes & Grunts)
