razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2005 Earlier this week I went over to help a friend out who had some problems with his computer. The major problem was constant pop-ups from explorer and a search bar at the bottom of the screen. So I went and did the usual of running CWS Shredder which removed a few of the bugs then I ran Ad-Ware. After a 10 minute or so search it found 645 bugs in several folders. The search bar disappeared and everything looked good so I decided to defrag the C: drive. It went good for about 3 minutes then the popups from hell came and never stopped leaving about 40 windows open. We decided to just reinstall Windows XP which seemed to work. Guest Fook Report post Posted April 8, 2005 Once my friend asked for help because he was being plauged by spyware. I installed and ran Ad-Aware on his computer and am still astounded at the results. He had over 2100 instances of spyware on his system. Him: Is that a lot? Me: Well...yeah. Him: How many do you get? Me: Usually around a hundredth of this. Him: ......oh. syxx2001 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2005 The other day I was going crazy. Somehow, someway I got some spyware snuck in on my computer I was getting pop ups like crazy, and IE wasnt even open. So I did a system restore and everything was back to new. But.... I searched and got about 400 or 600. Searched about 20 minutes later cause I had restarted and got 200 Searched that night and got around 100. I was gonna reformat but my BIOS was acting stupid so I just did a system restore.
