ULTIMATE HOGAN vol. 11 (GOOD QUALITY) 6HRS 11/30/91 – 4/5/92 The picture shakes during most of the matches on this tape. I'm getting a replacement. 1. Int – Hulk Hogan talks about Ric Flair claiming to be the “Real” World Champion. 2. Hulk Hogan v. Ric Flair (The funny thing here, is that Flair almost won the match after hitting Hogan with brass knucks, and pinning him. WWF official Pat Patterson ran out to inform the referee and the decision was reversed to give Hogan the win by DQ. The very next match saw IRS pin Big Bossman after hitting him WITH A BRIEFCASE! None of the officials came out to protest the decision and have the pinfall reversed. Also of note, is that The NWA Title belt that Ric Flair brings to the ring with him is now digitally distorted whenever it’s on camera. MSG 11/30/91) 3. Hulk Hogan v. Typhoon (WWF TV 12/29/91) 4. Hulk Hogan v. Undertaker (Hogan wins the match after throwing ashes in the Undertakers eyes and wins the title for a 4th time. Tuesday in Texas PPV) 5. Jack Tunney strips Hogan of the WWF Title and declares it vacant due to the ending of the previous match. The title will now be won by the winner of the 1992 Royal Rumble. My question, is why is Tunney now so interested in holding up the title based on rulebreaking, when that’s been happening for YEARS? 6. Hulk Hogan v. Ric Flair (MSG 12/29/91) 7. Royal Rumble 1992. (While Hulk Hogan had consistently managed to eliminate his tag team partners in previous Rumbles (Randy Savage in 1989, Ultimate Warrior in 1990, Tugboat in 1991), it’s Hogan’s good buddy Sid Justice that eliminates Hogan this year. Flair would immediately eliminate Sid to win the Rumble and the WWF Title. The announcers would spend the next several months complaining about how Sid stabbed Hogan in the back by eliminating him in a match that the same announcers constantly described as “every man for himself” and that “there are no friends, only enemies”. Funny how when Hogan eliminated his friends 3 years running, it was ok, and described as an honest mistake, but when it’s done to Hogan, everyone is crying foul.) 8. Several wrestlers discuss why they should be the one to get the title shot at Ric Flair at Wrestlemania 8. 9. Wrestlemania press conference. WWF President Jack Tunney announces that Hulk Hogan will get the title shot at Ric Flair at Wrestlemania 8. Sid isn’t very happy about being passed over though. 10. Funeral Parlor (WWF TV 2/8/92) 11. It’s announced that Hogan will now be wrestling Sid Justice at Wrestlemania instead of Ric Flair (who will now be defending the WWF Title against Randy Savage. 13. Battle Royal (Sid wins the match by eliminating Hulk Hogan. Hogan had actually eliminated Sid earlier, but the referee didn’t see it, so Sid got back in and proceeded to win the match. MSG 2/23/92) 14. Hulk Hogan & Roddy Piper v. Sid Justice & Ric Flair (picture shakes. Mobile, AL 3/9/92) 15. Several interviews with Hogan and Sid regarding their upcoming title match at Wrestlemania 16. Hulk Hogan & Roddy Piper v. Sid Justice & Ric Flair (MSG 3/23/92) 17. Int – Hulk Hogan and Vince speculate that Hogan’s match with Sid may very well be the final match of his career. The real reason behind this speculation isn’t because Hogan plans on retiring. It’s because with the current steroid scandal that Vince McMahon was involved with, it was decided that Hogan needed to take some time away from the WWF until the heat died down. As a result, Hogan was removed from the title match and replaced by Randy Savage who would go on to win the title from Flair. Hogan’s match with Sid was billed as a possible retirement match. 18. Hulk Hogan v. Sid Justice (Sid kicks out of Hogan’s Legdrop! Lots of people were under the impression that Sid did this because he was on his way out of the WWF and couldn’t be punished for it. The REAL story, is that Papa Shango was supposed to break up the 3 count himself. But for some reason he mistimed his run-in and was only Half way to the ring when Hogan covered Sid for the Pin. With Shango nowhere near them, Sid had to kick out of The pin in order to keep the match on track. Shango eventually made his way to the ring and attacked Hogan with Sid. This brought on the return of the ULTIMATE WARRIOR! Wrestlemania 8) 19. TV Special on the WWF Steroid scandal. Dr. D. It’s here that Hogan makes a national name for himself and the Hulkamania phenomenon begins. 17. Int – Jesse “The Body” Ventura talks about what he’ll do to Hogan when he gets him in the ring. 18. Nick Bockwinkle (Hogan appears to win the AWA Title! The crowd goes ballistic for Hogan, but the title switch would be overturned.) 29. Hulk Hogan v. Nick Bockwinkle (Hogan again appears to win the title in a re-match. But just as in the previous match, the switch would be overturned, and the belt given back to Bockwinkle. Verne Gagne didn’t want to put the belt on a non- wrestler like Hogan, which was a huge mistake, as Hogan was easily the most popular wrestler on the roster. This mistake in judgment would leave the door open for Vince McMahon to lure Hogan away from the AWA to the WWF where of course he’d become the figurehead of the company for the next 10 years.) 30. The remainder of the tape covers Hulk Hogan’s return to the WWF. As I mentioned above, the AWA’s refusal to put the World Title on clearly the biggest babyface in recent memory frustrated Hogan enough that when Vince McMahon came calling, Hogan was ready to move up north to the WWF. It turned out to be the best decision he ever made. 31. Samu v. Bob Backlund (Afa & Sika are with Samu, and won’t leave the ringside area. As a result, Backlund leaves the ring and goes to the back. He’s not gone long though, as he returns with HULK HOGAN! Yes folks, this is it. Hulk Hogan makes his first appearance in the WWF as a babyface and turns the place on it’s ear! Hulkamania begins here, as Hogan would soon take Backlund’s place in the January 24th match against the Iron Sheik at Madison Square Garden for the WWF Title and change the wrestling world forever! WWF TV 1/14/84 ) 32. Hulk Hogan & Bob Backlund v. Mr. Fuji & Tiger Chung Lee (WWF TV 1/21/84 ) 33. Hulk Hogan v. Iron Sheik ( Madison Square Garden January 23, 1984 HULK HOGAN PINS THE IRON SHIEK TO WIN THE WWF TITLE! This match would change the course of wrestling history forever. This match was the birthplace of the infamous REVIVING ELBOW! What’s the Reviving Elbow? Well, to put it simply, everyone knows That when Hulk Hogan is near death, he automatically gets all his energy back when someone uses their finisher on him. Well, during this Match, Hogan was virtually unconscious, and Savage couldn’t wake him up. So while the ref was distracted, he climbed the top rope, and Dropped his patented Flying Elbow on Hogan, and true to form, HOGAN JUMPS TO HIS FEET! This match was supposed to be the culmination of his title quest, and should have been one of the greatest dream matches of all time with Sting pinning Hogan cleanly for the title. But because of Hogan and and his ability to control the finishes of his matches, and his refusal to do clean jobs for most anyone, we wound up with a TERRIBLE match with Hogan completely dominating Sting and no-selling any of Sting's offense. Even worse, we wind up with an extremely convoluted ending with a heel ref, and a Bret Hart run-in that resulted in Sting winning the title in VERY anticlimactic fasion) 6. J.J. Hulk Hogan and the Rock cut another pair of classic promos to build up their Wrestlemania match. (Smackdown – Smackdown 3/14/02 ) 18. Hulk Hogan v. The Rock (ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL MATCH!!!! In my opinion, this was one of the top 3 greatest Wrestlemania matches OF ALL TIME! To hell with the folks that insist on whining about work rate and in-ring technical ability. Hogan and the Rock BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN!! Hogan was supposed to be the heel here, but he came out to the biggest babyface pop of anyone that night. The Rock, as a result despite being the WWF’s biggest babyface, wound up getting booed like he was the biggest heel! And true to the ability of both men to entertain the fans, they improvised their roles in their match on the spot, with Hogan wrestling as a babyface, and the Rock working the crowd as if he were a complete HEEL! It was FANTASTIC! The crowd ate it up, and continued to boo everything that the Rock did, while cheering everything Hogan did, even if it was blatantly against the rules! In the end, Hogan would lose the match, but after a run-in by the NWO, who weren’t too happy about Hogan losing, would immediately become a babyface when he and the Rock ran off Hall & Nash. This left Hogan in the ring to raise the Rock’s hand in a gesture of true heart felt sportsmanship. The Rock responded by inviting Hogan to do his classic post match babyface posedown for the crowd. And just like everything else they did that night, it went over INCREDIBLY HUGE WITH THE AUDIENCE! Seemingly against all odds, Hulk Hogan managed to once again re-invent himself to a new generation of wrestling fans, and thrill just about all of his older ones. Even the internet crowd that is normally very hostile toward anything that involves Hulk Hogan, freely admitted that Hogan easily carried his weight in this match, and earned all the accolades that he had been given. Wresltlemania X8) 19.Hulk Hogan cuts his first babyface promo after turning face at Wrestlemania to a TREMENDOUS ovation. (RAW 3/18/02 ) 20.Hulk Hogan & The Rock v.
