TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 BACKSTAGE NOTES FROM TNA LOCKDOWN PPV by Mike Johnson @ 12:30:00 PM on 4/25/2005 Dixie Carter gave a speech backstage last night before the Lockdown PPV to the TNA crew, putting over that the company had cleared Eurosport in Europe, and putting a positive spin on the future of the company. Carter asked the workers to work hard because a number of network executives "had their eyes on the company" and everyone was doing their best to get a deal done. TNA's new Vice President Frank Dickerson, who started a few weeks ago in the office and was a high level executive for Panda Energy, was also introduced last night to the wrestlers before the PPV. One person backstage described the backstage atmosphere as "close to Victory Road" in terms of commitment from the crew to put on a good show. There were a number of wrestlers who wanted to "wash out" the Destination X PPV from fans' memories. A number of those backstage were openly noting the positive change in the locker room with the departure of Kid Kash. The feeling backstage was that it was a matter of when, not if Matt Hardy would be debuting for the company. NWA Cyberspace is running this Saturday 4/30 in Wayne, New Jersey at the PAL with NWA champion Jeff Jarrett vs. Cyberspace champion Slyck Wagner Brown, Michael Shane vs. Stryker (Best of Three Falls), April Hunter & Tracy Brooks vs. Jazz & Cindy Rogers, Cruiser-X champion Sonjay Dutt vs. The Grimm Reefer, Chris Candido vs. Mike Kruel and more to be announced. For ticket information, visit http://www.nwacyberspace.com. Tracy Brooks has opened a new official website at www.tnatracibrooks.com/. Maybe the fact that they've cleared Eurosport could give some credence to the rumors of them considering a European tour. Bringing in Matt is nothing but a positive in my eyes, as is getting rid of Kash. What does everyone else thing about this news?
RedJed 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Well that explains why everyone worked real hard last night. A meeting like that was most definately in order after the last few months being kind of a mess with Rhodes.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2005 If I were someone higher up in TNA, I'd suggest an incentive program like WCW had in the early 90's where the people who bust their asses off the most and put on the best match/matches get a bonus. It was a good motivational tool and produced some great bouts. When you're getting ****-plus at house shows, you're doing something right.
Guest Shadow Report post Posted April 25, 2005 Who exactly determined what was the "best" match anyways... however this would require tna to actually pay attention to what they are doing. unless of course this happens Dixie: Um...shit who had the best match? Styles/Daniels or Jeff/Nash? Jeff: Me of course. Dixie: Here's your $500,000 Mr. Jarrett, fantastic match.

Bringing in Matt is nothing but a positive in my eyes, as is getting rid of Kash. What does everyone else thing about this news? They've been on Eurosport for a while. But its a horribly redubbed version with a new commentary, afaik. Their running on TWC here in Blightly, about a month behind the States, and they're getting relatively good viewing figures and press in the wrestling mags over here. They could probably sell out a couple of moderately sized arenas over here if they wanted - certainly the wrestling fanbase knows a bit about them. You've got to love the positive attitudes that are there, from the top down - something seeminly missing at Stamford. That they're going all out to improve on previous PPVs when they know they're a letdown is only to be commended. I agree with the idea of an incentive scheme, if it could be worked out properly. Certainly the talent busting their arses deserve a better deal or bonus system. And Matt debuting can only be a good thing.
