Matt Young Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Fuck Firefox. I love me some tabbed browsing, but everything slows to a crawl with Mozilla. Connection speed on Internet Explorer: 1200 Kbps. Speed with Mozilla Firefox: Roughly 500 Kbps.
Jobber of the Week Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Fuck Firefox. I love me some tabbed browsing, but everything slows to a crawl with Mozilla. Connection speed on Internet Explorer: 1200 Kbps. Speed with Mozilla Firefox: Roughly 500 Kbps. Give Opera a try. Yeah, it's not free, but that can be dealt with. A lot of people who really value speed but want tabs and cool stuff like it. I tried the Mac version and it was okay, but I'm satisfied with Firefox. Cheesy thread title here. No software is "perfect," but the good news is that Firefox has many thousands of contributing programmers while Microsoft has to prod the IE development team awake with a stick to make a collective security patch once a month.
Guest Vitamin X Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Yeah, I have a hard time giving Firefox up. Even though my computer has been having (very strange) slow-down problems as of late, and Firefox doesn't support a lot of websites while IE does, I value a lot of the features it does provide me with (built in pop-up blocker, tabbed browsing, nice extensions without being too much in the way, my PIMPED-OUT~ skin (complete with gaudy gold rims and fuzzy dice), and the like. Norton Antivirus can take care of me here, I'd wager.

MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 All you have to do is uncheck the little box in options that allows sites to install software. The only time thats even remotely needed is for extensions and you can check the box to install and then uncheck it after the install.

Guest cosbywasmurdered Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 i've never had a problem with firefox in any way.
Guest Vitamin X Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Norton just proved me right, actually. I just got a message from Norton Internet Worm Protection saying there was a remote system trying to access my computer through firefox.exe DENIED
Perfxion Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 they just came out with a new safer patch numbering 1.04 so this issue is now dead.
