What is Mindhunters?

That one with the FBI profilers and the killer is one of them

How the hell did Monster-In-Law get #1?

Why did Mindhunters only open up in 1040 screens? Is the movie so bad that nobody wants to support it or is it some kind of deal with a theater chain refusing to show it?

I would go to almost any Jet Li movie no matter how bad it is and I am becoming a Stephan Chow fan. And I can't resist Tom Cruise or Will Smith action movies...

I refuse to believe that Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez are more of a box office draw then Will Fuckin Ferrell. Somebody rigged something.

Each movie Will Farrell stars in gets less funny.

Each cameo Will Farrell stars in gets funnier.

Maybe because it's not worth putting so much money into a movie that was completed over 2 years ago.

Damn thing is lucky it didn't go straight to video.

Between this figure, and this thread, I'm now convinced the TSM forums exists in an alternate reality.

If someone can provide a hyper link to a website existing in the universe where people don't flock to complete crap, I'd appreciate it.

edit: This theory of mine also explains why the TNA folder gets so much traffic.

Because it's hiliariously fucking funny. I went to go see it today, since my cable and internet was down for about 5 hours this afternoon.

Isn't there a Star Trek movie or something coming out soon? That might be a big hit.

I predict $150 million in 3 days for that movie and people will still be angry about the plot twist......Honeymooners will be #2 with $18 million.

So, you're predicting that ROTS will forever own every box office record, with somewhere around 500 million for it's initial weekend?

Sounds good

Oops, I meant weekend. $130 million max. It'll end up doing probably $350 in the US by the end of its run, slightly more worldwide.

Supposedly, this is the last Star Wars movie that will ever be made. (Don't believe it.) So, you know hardcore and casual fans alike are going to flock to it like flies to a horse's ass.

You're probably right, but you have to take in consideration, as CronoT said, that this is the last chapter in the SW franchise, so people will be eager to see it (at least us SW geeks, anyway). AOTC did $116 on its 4-day weekend and I'm sure ROTS will do better. if only because of higher ticket pricing. Your final gross figure seems about right, too, but I'd peg it at about $375-$385 when it's all said and done.

But the reviews that are coming in are good, so that well help a lot.

Rolling Stone didn't like it. Then again, they liked "Monster in Law", so their opinion is shit to me.

Nothing outside of having Jar Jar Binks being revealed as the killer of the Princess will prevent ROTS from making $200 million the 1st week.

Considering who you are, that's not convincing at all.

I was quite surprised by this as well, and even more surprised that Kicking and Screaming came in at #2. I went to go see it late Saturday night, and there was this enormous line for Monster in Law, and there was only about 3-5 people in the entire theatre for Kicking and Screaming. Good reason to, though. Awful weekend for movies.

I've never liked Rolling Stone's reviews.

At Rotten Tomatoes, ROTS has fresh rating of a 85% (95% for users), while Monster-In-Law has a fresh rating of a 17% (66% for users).

Basically the negative reviews are really lame, typical stuff like "The prequels suck and this one is slightly better than the other two."

I'm not sure what it will make really but I'm thinking something along the lines of what the first two LOTR movies did worldwide. Hell Phantom Menace did 925 million or so worldwide and that was after what had to have been bleh world of mouth. So I'll so something like 900 million worldwide, 430 million domestic.
