dvd decoders

Ok, I have a DVD player on my Gateway, and I used to always watch movies on it in the dorms last year before my computer crashed. So anyway when I sent my computer to get fixed, they wiped out my hard drive and I lost everything i didnt back up. Now when I go to watch DVD"s I can't since I need a decoder, and I havent found any free ones and I am too broke to buy one right now. Does anyone know where I can get one for free or for super cheap

The reson you need one is due to the new Windows Media Player which i presume they've installed for you. If you can find a way to go back to a previous version you should be able to play them.
