Well, this will be the last of my current computer, a HP 522C which has given me so many problems over the past two years. Upgrading to a computer that has the capability to handle three different applications will be a plus.

Anyway, whenever I plug in my CAT5 cable, the PC doesn't recognize that the cable is connected. The tiny light near the "ethernet" plug doesn't begin blinking, so I don't know where the problem lies. At the "Network Connections" option, it still says "Network Cable Unplugged". What should I do?

Any help is appreciated.

That's the thing - I've tried multiple cables, but with no success. The control panel recognizes that there is a network connection, but isn't recognizing the cables.

check for confirmation from your router/modem. like an ethernet light or LAN light, just any light that would represent that your modem/router recognizes your ethernet connection.

After that...you may have to uninstall/re-install the drivers for the ethernet card.
