nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Seriously, Raw with HHH on top is so unbearably stale that I'm almost wishing someone would injure him just to get him off my TV. It's just this horrible, repetitive bullshit. Either HHH has the belt and it's boring or someone else has the belt and HHH challenges for it ad nauseum until he wins it back. I mean why doesn't Batista simply say "Fuck you, I don't want to wrestle you again?" Suspending the knowledge that wrestling is fake, Batista would probably be mad enough about getting hit with a sledgehammer that he'd be willing to put his belt on the line if it meant getting his hands on hhh. Having said that, hhh bores the piss out of me, and it's funny that the show was that much better without him.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 This actually should be the perfect time for Christian to turn face but with HHH back in the saddle I doubt we'll be seeing it anytime soon. I could see them running with an Edge vs Christian vs HHH vs Batista match somewhere before Vengence.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Regardless of Batista's anger at HHH, don't they realize you can't main event three PPVs in a row with the same match? I remember in Foley's book he was scheduled to face Austin at KOTR 98 in the HIAC match for the title, but then Vince or someone thought "Gee, we just had 2 PPVs with these guys maining so maybe we should do something else." Hell at least last year they had Benoit/HHH/Shawn twice and eventually did HHH/Benoit later. What is the point of this HIAC match anyway? It won't be any good, there won't be a huge fall or something jaw dropping. The only possible idea is for HHH to mention he is undefeated in HIAC and thus have Batista beat him. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I'm going to place myself firmly in the "Edge comes out after HIAC and pins Batista" category. Edge vs Kane is a test for his character and so far it seems to be working. More to the point it's a test for Edge personally because he HAS to look good coming out of his Kane program or else the kind of heat he'll get from stealing the title from Batista won't be good. If he continues his current stuff I think he can do it. I honestly can't believe I'm supporting Edge here but fuck it.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I dunno, the whole scenario has this disturbing WM 9 vibe to it that can't be ignored. At least this time it'd be a heel doing the screwing of someone that is supposed to be popular. Besides, is the Money in the Bank contract really something that can literally be cashed in at any moment? I thought of it more as a Bischoff saying "You have the contract, give me advance notice and I'll book the match" kind of thing.
Guest wolverine1007 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I have to say that I enjoyed Raw on the whole. The ECW funeral was a great segment, and it did build the PPV perfectly, at least for me. And getting to watch Heyman rip on Bischoff, Bischoff rip on ECW, and McMahon rip on Bischoff and heyman to a degree was some of the best television they have created in a while. The writing on Raw actually impressed me too. Would you have expected to be entertained by Viscera, Lillian, Maria and the Coach a few weeks ago? Also, the face that Edge did have Batista pinned for 3 after the Spear, if not for the ref bump, does give something for Edge to build on, and who knows, maybe he uses Money in the Bank to get into the Hell in a Cell with HHH and Batista. If not, i really hope that Benoit and Christian wind up getting drafted or traded to Smackdown, because then I won't have any real reason to watch RAW anymore, and espeically not while Triple H is making sure he's on top. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 One thing I was thinking that they could do to try to keep Edge's heat is say that Christian and Tomko were actually working with HHH and Flair all along. I mean, it did seem kind of weird that Flair would be able to take them down that fast, and there has been a lot of interaction between the four of them lately. That way, the odds weren't really stacked against Batista, Edge can still feel like he got screwed, and if he uses his MITB title shot somewhere down the line, it wouldn't feel quite so futile. Honestly though, I think they blew their wad on this, and that Edge's chances of getting somewhere on Raw are pretty much nil at this point.
Guest news_gimmick Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I also think that by Batista pinning Edge last night kills anyones interest in seeing Edge use his money in the bank title shot. Of course they could use it like everyone is guessing (after Batistas hell in the cell match) but to me Batista winning last night was unnecessary and just continues to keep Edge in the same spot he's been in for 6 months now. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Also, has the Grenier/Conway professional rivalry been an angle on Heat or something? Man, like I said earlier, it's like everyone's got something to do. Even if it's not that great (the possibility of which someone pointed out) to have all this stuff going on, it's much better than having them talk about one or two angles all show long, with a bunch of segments devoted to them. I call it the "where's Poochie?" effect. I expect things to return to that now that HHH is back, but whatever. For the record, all I thought before Flair did the swerve last night was that he was awfully close behind Batista as HHH came out. I suppose that I was still fooled is either a testament to my own gullibility or Flair's ability to sell an angle.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Actually, I wasn't convinced Flair was turning until he did, either. I certainly wasn't shocked or anything, especially after all the speculation that he might. But I really wanted to see them do Flair/HHH at Summerslam, and the idea of a face Flair being torn between HHH and Batista was so attractive that I kind of went with that storyline in my mind. Thats exactly what I wanted them to do too. It would be different and could tell a great story, so of course they didn't go that rout. We must be fed the same cycle of crap over and over again. I didn't see anything wrong with getting behind the Edge and Lita pairing , or eve Christian and get a new heel to work main events for once. I think a Flair/Triple H SummerSlam main event could be fantastic, there is so many things they could do to build for it as well. Sorry, I expected something more out of wrestling. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 Not as a main event. Have Flair/HHH as a big undercard match, but fuck a main event.
Guest news_gimmick Report post Posted May 25, 2005 I dunno why I said main event, I meant undercard match with lots of hype.
