Undertaker (3-disc), HHH (3-disc), Ladder Matches

Recommended Posts

Screw DVD sets for Undertaker & Triple H...all their footage is easily available and in most cases on DVD already. No sale for me.

I would rather see sets for Piper, Steamboat, Valentine, Snuka, Dibiase, Backlund & maybe one on 80's tag-teams. At least with those we would get stuff a little deeper in the vault and rare matches.

other forgotten ladder matches

Mankind vs Big Bossman for the Hardcore title (Raw, late nov 98, bossman wins the hc title)

Mankind vs The Rock for the WWF title (Raw 2-15-99 Rock wins his third wwf title to set up mania 15 vs SCSA)

the third fall of angle vs benoit JD 01

hey, why no taker vs sid mania 13 on that set? i mean its his 2nd wwf title win and they have his first, and fourth on there. i mean its at least a little better then the casket match vs yoko (but without the green smoke and marty jannetty in a taker costume floating, but with smarkish guest commentary from HBK)

and obviously they are omitting over the edge 99 vs austin cuz of the whole owen dying thing

E and C vs Hardys RAW Ladder Match night after unforgiven 00 (it was their last title shot for e and c, which led to the los conquistadores angle)

What a lacklustre matchlist. I would have thought at least they could throw a rarity (like, say, Austin vs Undertaker 1999 title change on Raw, or the double pin/tapout Angle vs Undertaker Smackdown match) to entice completists.

It's thrown-together DVDs like this that make the Benoit DVD all the more special. After all, it would have been so easy for them to stick the entire Royal Rumble 2004 on the Benoit DVD, despite eating up an hour and its prior availability on DVD. To this day, I still can't believe the production team went out of their way to stick Benoit/Regal and the New Japan and Super J Cup matches on his DVD, but I'm bloody glad someone did. Was some renegade production crew member throwing the smarks a bone?

I'm going to agree with the UT match-list. I can't even believe they don't include Warrior getting stuffed into a casket on the Funeral Parlor. They should have Warrior/Taker's feud on there as it was important. UT actually got cheers against Warrior in some cities back then as a heel. It was part of the reason they turned him face in 1992. I guess we were lucky in Canada to get Hart/Taker and I taped it. It REALLY should be on there too.

perhaps the warrior into casket thing will be an easter egg?

I personally think that Taker's best match is the HIAC vs. Shawn Michaels, but ONO might be his best wrestling match. Just my preference, really. I have the ONO match on tape and it's really quite great.

Yeah, I wouldn't argue with you, 'cos I got a lot of love for HIAC, too. MY favourite Taker matches are ONO, HIAC, SS98 with Austin, NM02 with Brock and the SD03 summer match with Angle. Oh, and Ground Zero with Shawn rules as well.

You'd think they learned their lesson with the Hogan DVD. That was the right way, to me, to make a DVD about someone who'd been around for ages. Yeah, throw some matches on there, but I'm more interested in seeing old footage and stuff that made the character popular in the first place. The omission of Undertaker's debut at Survivor Series '90 is inexcusable.

I figure they'll put the footage of his first appearance on the main feature but not put the actual SurSeries match as an extra because he's only there for the first part and doesn't factor in on the final result since he's counted out mid-match.

I think ONO is also Bret's last great match as well. The closest he came to anything like that match was with Benoit on nitro. I wonder if the DVD will have the original Monsoon commentary for a superstars show where Undertaker is called Kane? Anyone else remember that? It was like for a week and they dropped the Kane name. It was also rumoured that the initial feud was going to have this aspect brought up in that Undertaker did it as a tribute to his dead brother. It never materialized obviously.

The Triple H DVD should just be 3 discs of his self-praising promos, because that's all I can associate with him anymore

Come on, don't forget about all of his 5 star classic matches and promos that will be all over the release :headbang: He's the greatest wrestler on the planet today. He is just that damn good. The current champ beat him, but he has not gone through him. Hell, he might be the greatest of all-time. Ric Flair said so...

They mentioned that in wwf magazine in 98. They said Taker had called himself Kane The Undertaker originally as a tribute. though at survivor series 1990, Dibiase clearly calls him The Undertaker. (the funnier part is when Monsoon I think actually called the tombstone by that name, which was dumb cuz he wasn;t supposed to know anything about the newcomer. that and that version of the piledriver was rarely used and didn't have a name till taker came about, which is part of his legacy to wrestling, as he basically named a move)

It would be cool to have that match as an extra as well as some footage of him being called Kane, but what can you do.

actually I think it would be cool if WWE put out a best of superstars and challenge dvd set. but that will probably be saved for 24/7.

The tombstone was called that long before Undertaker showed up, and he had nothing to do with it being called a tombstone.

I think Taker/Brock's a bit better than HBK/Taker now, only becaused the first HIAC has aged horribly.

The first HIAC hasn't aged badly at all. Especially if many are still considering it to be the overall best Hell-in-a-Cell match.

Actually, I think that footage was doctored. I could be wrong, but the live show had Dibase saying Kane The Undertaker. For some reason I remember that and when I saw later footage wondered why it was edited. This is one instance I will admit myabe it's my imagination since it was so long ago.

That would be an awesome addition to the DVD. If it includes HIAC vs Cactus, the Iron Man match vs the Rock, Austin/HHH vs Canadian Chrises, and the 10-man tag, then consider me sold on this puppy.

really? I saw the show live (my first ppv that I watched) but dont remember if he said kane. I know that I have since seen the coliseum video plus countless other videos that have him saying just the undertaker. Interesting. Does anyone know this for sure?
