And if you didnt know the Bulldog personally then you have no right, especially at a time like this, to make comments on the type of person he was, and you dont know what made the man deteriorate, so dont assume his addictions were in his control, some people just cant help it.

Whether or not you want to accept it, Bulldog did all those things that the police reports and familly members say he did. That is undisputed fact. Yes, Davey had a disease, but that doesn't take away from the fact that his behavior, whether he was in control of it or not, is what lead to his death, and that is, without a doubt, the saddest thing about this story.

Listen:

to truly mourn someone's life, you have to accept all of it, because everything a person does shapes them as a person. Without all those things - good or bad - Davey Boy Smith wouldn't be Davey Boy Smith; he would be someone else.

I just came home about half an hour ago and heard this and i'm in total shock. It breaks my heart that something like this happens to the thing I love the most. This year has been a terrible year for professional wrestling, not because of the ratings or the booking of the product of any of that garbage, but of the loss of so many athletes that brought so much joy to so many people. I was a fan of Big Dick Dudley and was shocked to hear him die and now, a few days later, a guy who I grew up watching dies at the age of 39. Drugs are a terrible thing. They take people with so much promise in this world and rob them. It seems to be an epidemic in this thing that I love, and it hurts me knowing that I can do nothing about it. RIP Davey Boy Smith, you left a great legacy.

I don't think I have anything to add, really.

RIP Davey Boy.

Damn.

I was one of many who squealed with joy when Bret reunited with Owen, Davey Boy, Brian and Jim to reform the Hart Foundation. And now...

The real Hart Foundation reunion continues... and words can't describe the sadness I feel right now.

You deserved far better than this. Godspeed to you and condolences to all who held you dear.

I agree 100 percent with this.  I was and am a huge Bulldog fan, but there has been a lot of "you can't say ANYTHING negative about him now" since this thread began.  This is not his funeral, nor his wake.  We are not gathered here today to pay our respects.  This is meant for discussion.  And if you refuse to acknowledge any part of his life, you refuse to acknowledge the man himself.  Davey was who he was, he made his decisions, and they were not all very good ones.  He will be GREATLY missed by ALL of us, but you can't ignore the truth about why he died.  (And for anyone who wants to say "you don't know for SURE, you don't have the facts, etc", come on.  I didn't need an autopsy report to find out why Yokozuna died, and I don't need one here.)

Anyway, that aside, I think we can all learn a lesson from Davey Boy Smith and his life and tragic death.  Godspeed, Bulldog, you were certainly the most "bizarre" of them all. =)

I have one more thing to add.  I watched the WM 2 match with Bulldogs vs. Valentine/Beefcake today and Ozzy was the Bulldogs guest cornerman.  After the Bulldogs won the tag titles, Ozzy had one main thing to say:

"British Bulldogs forever!"

I think that says it all.

Just like in the real world of celebs, these guys seem to die in threes. Remember when Lou Thesz and two other guys of the old school died all at once.

Now the Bulldog, Big Dick Dudley, so now the question is "who's next?"

Look you guys im not saying he lived without fault, but there is a little thing called a grace period, and some people are very hurt by this turn of events, you dont come in and bash the guy the same day we find out this news, in a thread to pay tribute to him nonetheless. At least wait until peoples emotions and shock have cooled down, shit.

Mass Transit.

And look how creepy close this is to Owen's anniversary.

When you said that, my first thought was, "Mass Transit doesn't count.  He wasn't really a wrestler."  But now I'm hoping he does count.  It's not that I'm glad Kulas is dead.  It's just that I don't want a slot opened up for a third wrestler to die.

By the way, someone said Lou Thesz and two more old-schoolers died.  I know Wahoo McDaniel was one.  Who was the other?

Kind of lame to flame someone in a thread like this.

Lemme get this straight...you come in here and say something like you said, and expect NOT to get flamed?

Anyway, I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said.

RIP, Davey...you left some great memories behind.

I would be sorry, but I remembered that he used to beat his wife, so now I don't care any more.
