Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted July 26, 2005 As for Clerks, I bought Clerks X soon after it came out, but only watched the director's cut once while I was high. I'll have to watch it again to see what all the fuss is about.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do yourself a favor and watch the theatrical cut first. As VX mentioned, most of the extra scenes kill the pacing and mood of the movie. Not to mention that the theatrical cut features newly remastered video and audio. Technically, the director's cut on disc 2 shouldn't be considered a DC. It's the "First Cut" of the film, which was shown at Sundance. The "First Cut" on disc two is basically meant to be a supplement, allowing viewers to watch Clerks exactly the way it was shown at Sundance, right down to the fullscreen, VHS transfer. The FC shows the movie before all the little kinks were worked out. Watching the FC of Clerks is like watching a workprint copy of a movie.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2005 I've seen the theatrical version a bunch of times already on TV, VHS, and a few times on the DVD, just for the record.
Guest Greg Valentine Report post Posted July 26, 2005 Don't know if the Anchorman DVD counts but the scenes added in almost ruin the movie for me. The thing that was great about the PG-13 version was that it used it's one mention of the F-word perfectly and it's built up as such a big deal. Then on the DVD it's thrown out like 10 more times in the scene afterwards that just kills the humor in it. I may trade in the unrated DVD and see if I can find the theatrical cut somewhere.
